My Scrapbook/Office Room

I'm finally down to one tote to sort and find a place for in my new scrap/office space. After moving from one end of the house to the other I didn't think I would ever get done. I am still sorting out drawers and pulling out things to give to my DD's that I will in all probability not use, but that is an ongoing job.

The room used to be a front porch that was closed in back in the 1970's when my grandmother and I lived in the house. It's approximately 8'x25' - long and narrow. I organized my scrapping at one end and the computer/genealogy/office space at the other with a couch (which my DD has claimed as her reading space) in the middle.

The floor to ceiling shelves go almost the complete length of the room - only the computer desk stops them at the end. We did not have time to paint the shelves as I had to get my things in there as fast as we built the shelves. Hopefully one of these days I will be able to get the shelves painted. DH said when he puts the new windows in the house, we will go with one at each end instead of double ones and I will gain some wall space. The room has 8 windows (2 at each end and two on either side of the outside door which opens onto the front deck. Photos are in my webshots in the New Scrap/Office Room album.

Thanks everyone for the comments. The Siamese is Foo, Cookie must have been upstairs. Foo has a favorite box on the shelf she likes to scratch her paws on. Both girls have been declawed, but love to rub their paws on things. I'm still working on the lighting issue. I have a good lamp at the table, but the overhead light is not the best for going through drawers for paper. I have to pull out the entire drawer and bring it to the table to go through it. Trying to talk DH into two separate overhead lights because of the length of the room instead of just the center one. Check your local library about the card catalog cabinets. I won this one at the library auction for $30 (I think) a few years ago. They are obsolete now with the computer catalog system. I love it. Yes, there are three drawers of punches, even the big ones fit into them. The medium size Sizzix dies fit great in them too as well as the larger individual stamp blocks.

Wow Sandy! You have a lot of stuff! Your scrapping room looks great - I think I would never leave it if I were you :) I've got a similar system for my ribbon - it works much better than keeping them in baggies - just ready to roll down and cut. I must confess, I do envy that card catalog! It's really a beautiful piece of furniture. TFS and I hope you have many a happy creative hour in there :)
