Need Scrap Room organization ideas

I am finally acheiving my dream of having a craft room added on to the house... (M-C I still have that lone beader sandal hehehe)... if anyone runs across ideas for furniture and organization on the web if you could pass the link on to me I'd greatly appreciate it. There were a couple posted recently and I've been checking them out. I want to put some decent furniture in there, but I don't want to bust the bank either. So, I'm looking at all possibilities.

Thank you, Lynne

Should I be worried... I've noticed displays for these showing up in scrapbook stores and I saw one of the cubes at one of our LSS. I think these look cool and they are versitile as they allow you to get any configuration you might want.

About time they started making storage items that are 12X12. I have office furniture from a company called Techline. Love it and went in to check it out for my craft room they had a great storage slot desk item that was 8 1/2

11 or 16 inches. I told them they might consider making something 12X12 and get into the scrapbooking market.

I have looked at a lot of different scrapbook furniture styles, and my conclusion has been that they are all too expensive for me and most likely for others. The 12x12 cubes are really so simple, so I have enlisted my father to help me make some of my own. I showed my dad the pictures, and he said he couldn't believe what they were charging for such a simple piece. He said it was easy to make a pattern from the pictures. It's really not as bad as you might think, and if you have someone who loves to build things, this will surely make a weekend of fun for them.

Best,

I bought these cube thingies at Target...seems like they were about $12 or so and made 3 or 4 "boxes" when stacked up. The reason I don't remember is because I used those cable tie thingies to make smaller shelves in-between where they normally were. I know this isn't making sense... Okay, you get these wire squares that you put together to make cubes. I bought more than one of these "systems" then put the pieces of cubes from the extra sets at intervals throughout the boxes made from the first set. I used cable ties (those things that have a hole on the end and when you stick the other end in the hole it won't come back out) to hold the "shelves" (used 4 for each shelf). So now I have more shelves in less space. If this doesn't make sense, I'll see if DH will take a picture of it when he gets home from work then I'll send it to whoever wants it.

VERY easy and VERY inexpensive.

That's exactly what my scrapbooking consultant friend did. She got her cube system at Costco. ~Peggy

Lynne, Congrats to you!!

A computer desk, especially one with a hutch type top makes a GREAT desk/worktable. The hutch provides great space up above at eye level for storing and organizng a ton of stuff!!! That is not to mention the drawers or cabinets on each side. I then went to the galss shop and got a piece of tempered or safety glass to use as the working surface. It is REALLY GREAT!! Glue and all can be wiped off easily with rubbing alcohol and you can cut on it not to mention it is FLAT. I even droped my sizzix machie and shattered my glass but it is just fine. There is no sharp edges or splinters.

Hope this helps!
