(Off Subject) Go Tart Commercial

Has anyone else seen the commercial for Go Tarts where the girl leaves the boy standing at the front door and runns out the back and down the street to get away from him? Both my children (girl, age 14 and boy, age 10) remark on the rude behavior of the girl every time they see the commercial. Today, I finally asked them what they felt they could do about it. We all three looked up the company on the Internet and wrote a letter to the company. They also removed all of the Pop Tarts, Kellogg's cereal and snack crackers from our cabinets as well as the child care storage in protest. In today's society so many youth are not taught social graces or manners by their families and the media condones so much rude behavior. I don't know what one family can do, but at least we tried. Yes, Maya has commented on how bad that girl treats that young boy. No need for that rudeness. Good for your kids for having the incentive to try to do something about it!

Another one that just bugs me is the Windex one where the birds are saying "Watch this!" and this man runs into a patio door, supposedly because the glass has been so cleaned by Windex it's become invisible. The man hits the glass door *hard* and falls down backwards as the birds crack up over it. Just seems cruel and unnecessary to me.

I think what your children did is wonderful. More people should complain when they are offended by an advertisement. I remember complaining about a Carl's Jr. ad that was particularly offensive. Haven't eaten there since.
