OT: Back from the Doctor

My face has broken out real bad with acene. I have been dealing with various dr for over a year now and it continues to get worst. I had it one day after going to the dr for a year and he refering me to specilalist and nothing gets done, the one I walked in his office in pain my face hurt I couldn't talk barely. Dr took one look at me and said sorry everything I tried doesn't work don't know what else to tell you, by you being here its wasting mine and your time. I went online pulled up my insurance company closed my eyes and picked a dr. and have found a real good dr. and he did blood work and my blood scores are real low (4 -10 points low) and my thyroid is high. They are concerned real concerned about my scores. I have to go to a specialist ASAP!! Mean time for the test 5 days my diet consists of well water only, venison, broccoli, asparagus, brown rice (from a health food store only) brussel sprouts, safflower oil, turnip, cauliflower, carrots, sweet potato, shrimp, cabbage, parsnips, celery, yam, salt, lamb, avocado, spinach, and millet. The food can not be canned must be frozen or fresh. No toothpaste have to purchase from a health food store. And I MUST eat 3 meals of this stuff a day. Only thing on the list I like is carrots, celery, and of course salt. We need to flush my system they say. So PLEASE when your eatting something yummy this weekend like Pasta, Chicken, Hamburgers, Ribs, all that good stuff please have an extra bite for me. Thanks.

Oh wow..im sorry you have to go through all of that. But what the heck..at least you found a doc that is willing to go to the extreme to find out what is causing your problems. Do your best to follow what they say and I am hoping you will discover what it is! Good Luck!!!! Linda

Oh my! On the one hand, at least you have found a doctor that is trying a new approach! On the other hand, are you allowed to just make a drink out of all the stuff you don't like and chug it? If it were me I'd consider crunching on the carrots and the things I like and drinking the rest, LOL! I guess you must have tried everything out there already! There seem to be a lot of people that are getting good results with that pro-active stuff! Wish you lots of luck and a speedy cure!

My son had acne for a couple of months and I bought him Proactiv solution and within 6 weeks his face and shoulders completely cleared up. If you haven't tried it it is worth giving it a shot.

Oh goodness gracious! I'm glad you finally found a doctor after all this time who's willing to do what it takes to help you. Hang in there with the diet and hopefully it won't take long for the doctor to find out what's going on. *BIG hugs*

Poor Chrissy! Have you been to an allergist to be tested for EVERYTHING? It sounds like it might be an allergic reaction to something in your environment.

I know about thyroid levels. I have no thyroid and they keep my TSH levels low to keep the cancer away. As you probably remember, I was fighting thyroid cancer two years ago. If your thyroid levels were high, they were most likely talking about your TSH, which may indicate why you are not getting pregnant. Other symptoms of high TSH or hypothyroid are lack of energy, brain fog, slow metabolism (weight gain), various aches and pains, heavy periods, depression, hair loss. The list goes on and on... Hyperthyroid can have many of the same symptoms, except that your thyroid levels would be low and you would have trouble keeping weight on (usually but not always the case). Periods would be light. I don't know what exactly this diet is for to be honest. I know some foods affect the thyroid more than others. Soy is real bad for thyroid sufferers. If you are having a radioactive iodine treatment you would have to stay away from shellfish and iodized salt. When I had radioactive iodine, I was not on any special diet. Is the doctor trying to keep you from flouride? There have been some studies done that show that it can affect the thyroid. I will keep you in my prayers and please keep us informed. I hope you get better soon! Jacqui

It depends on the doctor since there are studies which support the advantage of a low iodine diet and there are studies which support that the diet doesn't significantly affect the results. The benefit of the low iodine diet is it allows the thyroid to take up more of the iodine.

Yes flouride displaces iodine and iodine is needed to combine with tyrosine to make T3 and T4 hormones.
