OT: Going to Georgia Thursday!

My step daughter is getting married Saturday in Milledgeville Ga, and we are heading down there Thursday and will be gone for four days. I hear it is really HOT there, and I am dreading the heat, let me tell ya! I read Kenda's advice about the heat and I will take heed! I am decorating her wedding cake too, and I am a little nervous about the icing. I have never done one when its been so hot, and it might have to be outside..geesh I hope not. I will try to talk her out of that! (SIL's mother) So anyway..i wont be here until next week, and then I will be on vacation at home after Monday. I wish I had time to check out some LSS while I am down there. We will see......:-) I am planning on seeing two of my sisters at the wedding too, so I am looking forward to that! cya when I get back! Have a great time. Hopefully it will be a dry heat instead of the humid ones we are famous for here in the midwest. Which way are you heading down? Do you go through Knoxville? I can give you directions to a great one close to there to hit coming back....you wouldn't want to stop with the cake in tow.

Hey. I live in Atlanta, and unlike Sandy's hopes for you, it is not a dry heat, not at all. Hot, sticky, lots of bugs, and pollen! I don't know where you live now or if you have any pollen allergies, but it might be a good idea to have some antihistamine handy.

Have fun Linda, and congratulations to the happy couple! Hope you get to check out at least one LSS while you're there, and if so you had better tell us all about it. :-)

Just an idea but if the cake must be outside could it maybe just be brought out for the cutting and a few pictures so it won't have to sit out in the heat because the icing WILL melt and nothing looks sadder than the look on your face as you watch all your hard work slide down the sides of the cake and onto the table! I think we will be going through Knoxville on the way back. The cake is going down there just baked and wrapped and secured very well. ..I will ice and decorate it when I get there, INSIDE the house! haha! Knoxville is actually where Amanda and Jeremy live! HIs parents live in Milledgville, and its at their house. Directions to an LS would be cool, thanks Sandy!

Thanks Shannon! I am hoping once the celebration is over, I can relax a little! I am starting to get a little uptight!

HI Luna! I forgot you were from Atlanta! I am very familiar with the South and the heat and humidity and bugs and POLLEN! I take allergy meds for the pollen and other springtime allergies. We used to live in Thomson and work in Augusta GA, 12 years ago. I am hoping to revisit our old neighborhood, and show the boys where they were born. Linda

I have never been to their house, so I am hoping to have some input on WHERE the cake is displayed once I get there and see whats going on and w here..lol . It will be on top of a cake fountain too, so I have to have it near a plug-in. Thanks! Linda

It will be outside unless it rains. Then we will be in trouble..lol Dont worry, I know when i have had enough heat. They have a pool too, so that will be great! AFter the celebration and eating is over, its a casual party , so I can dress down and be comfortable in cooler clothes. Believe me,,i kept the heat in mind when choosing my outfit! Thanks! Linda

Linda,

It's called Your Scrapbook Super Store

Take the TN-66 exit, EXIT 407, toward GATLINBURG/SEVIERVILLE/PIGEON FORGE. Turn RIGHT onto WINFIELD DUNN PKWY/TN-66 S. WINFIELD DUNN PKWY/TN-66 S becomes FORKS OF THE RIVER PKWY/US-441/ TN-71/CHAPMAN HWY SE. Turn RIGHT onto PARKWAY/US-441 S/TN-71 S/CHAPMAN HWY SE. Turn LEFT onto COLLIER DR. End at 250 Collier Dr Sevierville, TN 37862-6912

It takes about 20 minutes to get there from the interstate depending on traffic (sometimes less) as it's about 12 miles from I-40. I love both the store and their clearance center next door. It's the main reason I volunteer to be a second driver for my son when he makes the trip to SC to pick up the grandson. I hope you get a chance to stop there coming back. They're open M-Sat from 10am-9pm. I think the clearance Center closes earlier at 5 or 6 if I remember right.

have a great trip.

Linda, if your return trip is up I 75, you may want to stop at Archiver's in Kennesaw on your way back. It's within a mile of the exit and well worth a visit. And if you have time, there's also a Michael's, a huge JoAnn's, and a Scrapbook Clearance Superstore (older stuff, but very cheap) at the same exit. Email me at kristara at comcast dot net if you'd like directions.

Good luck with the wedding, and have a great time. Watch out for sudden thunderstorms!

Mel,

That's another one of Your Scrapbook Super Store Clearance Centers. I just love them and their store as well. Do they have a store at the same site, or just the clearance center?
