OT: Interesting Show on my local PBS

I watched an interesting show on WLIW PBS regarding art quilts. I was so inspired to try some techniques on my cards and layouts I had to share the blurb for you guys to try and catch it.

The art work is so awe inspiring. There is one artist who uses found objects in her quilt that it was a "where's waldo" effect. Who here hasn't gone the "ooh I wonder what I could use this for" route.

Here's the blurb:

" Art of Quilting

Explore the diverse techniques and artistry reflected in contemporary American art quilts through artistic exhibitions and quilt artists at work in their studios. Discover how the boundaries of traditional American quilt making have expanded to an art form that now adorns the walls of exhibit halls and art galleries worldwide. Segment One Segment one highlights the quilts and artists from Quilt National, the premier exhibition of contemporary art quilts in the country. For nearly 30 years, quilters and fiber artists have traveled to the Dairy Barn in Athens, Ohio for the biennial Quilt National show, a visual feast of color, innovation and inspiration. Featured artist, Jane Burch Cochran is profiled at her home in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky, demonstrating her distinctive beading and embellishment techniques. Segment Two "I'm Proud to be a Fuser from Chicago" is boisterously sung by Laura Wasilowski, founding member of the Chicago School of Fusing, a group of art quilters dedicated to spreading the message of the wonders of fused quilts. Using vibrant hand-dyed fabrics, Laura, Melody Johnson, Frieda Anderson and Emily Parson create bold, dynamic art quilts with themes ranging from a love of nature to an appreciation of chickens. Segment Three Segment three kicks off with a visit to Art Quilts Philadelphia, a biennial exhibition of art quilts. Several artists are interviewed at the exhibition's opening including Pat Kroth, Carol Krueger, Judy Langille and Diane Savona. Savona, a fiber artist who uses old garments and recycled textiles as raw material for her art, sees her work as a collaboration between herself and needle workers of the past. The Art of Quilting honors the artistry and diverse techniques of America's contemporary art quilters by visiting art quilt exhibitions across the country and through personal interviews with nationally and internationally noted fabric artists. Kate I caught some of that show too. Those were some amazing quilts! The lady that used all the beads and no real patterns to her quilts was really creative! Linda
