OT: Outdoor Hockey

Haha - that sounds funny - but right now they are playing an OUTDOOR hockey game in Edmonton where it is below zero!!! There are like 52,000 people freezing their butts off! Talk about a scrapbook opportunity! The closest I got was the Cold War hockey game played outside in Lansing, MI a couple of years ago where it was about 35 degrees! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Actually...it was aboit -15C...more like -20C with wind chill. But that's what life in the Heartland of Hockey is like. The game was awesome...and Edmonton won! Yay for Gretzky, Curry, Coffee, Fuhr, Semenko, Tikkanen, Huddy, etc, etc, etc...was cool to see LaFleur play again too.

It's funny - I'm sure these guys grew up playing outside with less stuff on than they wore tonight, but still so cool to see! Old school hockey...life is good!

When I saw the weather report, the NHL game was on, and it was - 20, -28 with the windchill, and thats in Celcius! :) I heard that for the heritage game the guys were given thermal undies and they had heated benches... not sure about the NHL players.. you couldn't pay me enuf for that!
