Many thanks to everyone for their prayers for my Grandma. She is much better. She was released from the hospital yesterday. The drs. gave her blood 3 times. The 3rd time really seemed to help. My cousin (she's my age with small children) had a long talk with one of the nurses concerning my Grandma's condition. Seems like all the ole gal needed was some good nutrition. My cousin explained Grandma's living with her daughter (my and my cousin's aunt) and Cousin felt like she wasn't getting the proper care/nutrition she needed, essentially being neglected to a certian degree. After a long conversation with the nurse she hugged my cousin and told her she would do what she could, this was on Sunday. The nurse called social services and got them involved. So it looks like at least for a while my Aunt will have to make sure she feeds Grandma right and gives her her meds on time. In the mean time my cousin who has been "cast" from that part of the family at least had my Grandma's sisters to back her up, will be doing what she can to keep an eye on Grandma. My Dad called Grandma yesterday and said she sounded much better. Please keep in mind there is an awful lot to this story concerning my aunt who is supposed to be the caregiver that I just can't go into here, just a really big mess. I as well as my parents feel really helpless. All we can do is give my Cousin our love and support.
I still feel like something the dog drug in. The ultrasound I had yesterday showed no gallstones. I returned to the dr. today. After he asked me if I'd ever had a particular test, testing for how well my gallbladder funtions we counted up the number of times I've had a gallbladder ultrasound. Since
1995, 6! So on Thursday morning I go for a test were they check to see if it's squeezing out appropriately when they inject the "gut hormone" (as my dr. called it)(it's what the body produces when you eat telling the gall bladder to squeeze bile out for digestion) . After much discussion and he being just sure I'd had one done before I finally said, "sounds like what you ordered for my oldest when he was having problems with his". Slaps his forhead, "yeah, well at least I had the right family!" I'd go sooner but the hospital has to order this "gut hormone". Hopefully I'll know something shortly after the test. In the mean time I'm still living on pain killers and very little food. But hey I've lost 5 lbs since Friday! 'Course it'll all come right back once I go back to eating regularly!
Many thanks to all for the wonderful thoughts and prayers, prayers helped give Grandma the strength she needed to get well.
