When the children went to school on Tuesday after Labor Day we had no idea they would be home a few hours later. Our high school football coach and teacher committed suicide on Monday and was found Tuesday morning after he did not show up for work. As soon as they found out they closed down the school and sent the students home so they could prep the teachers and get counselors in place to deal with this tragedy. He was a young teacher, been at the school for four years and was a favorite among both the students and the other teachers. Evidentially there was an investigation going on about his involvement with text messaging a 17 year old student and this was his way out of a bad situation. Not a good thing for someone who was a role model for so many students. Prayers are needed not only for the 17 year old girl involved and the coach's family, but also for all of the students who had faith in their teacher, coach and friend and are now dealing with the suicide of someone they looked up to and admired. He was DS's coach at football camp and DD's teacher. Last year she lost three fellow students (two who were friends and neighbors) in a tragic car accident the week before school started and the year before that a fellow student and friend a few days before school started to a drowning. the day before school started this year she asked me what was going to happen this year........
