OT: RAIN

I think that somehow I have been transported to a WET, HUMID, RAINY place somewhere!

We have set a new record now in Oklahoma City for number of days of consecuive rainfall dating back 110 years. It stinks. Here we have either feast or famine and this year is over indulgence!! Texas is not any better.

It is something to think of how the weather is changed and all amuck in MANY if not all parts of the worls ovr past couple years and getting worse.

I am so sick of rain, well I have lived here 11 years now in same spot and I have a "low" area I did not know was there! That is not to mention the normal one I have in the front yard and because has been so wet, well the grass is starting to die even. Those few days we have had SOME sun, the grass SHOOTS up!! Then you have to litrally wade in and TRY to mow it so it does not get totally out of control.

Anyhow today we have so far, now noonish gotten anther 1" plus in the metro area nad lots of bad flooding going on in so many parts of the state.

So how is your weather? Carolyn? MC ya'll getting any rain yet? How about you Lynne and others in NW?

Wow I can't believe the amount of rain you're getting Dave! We're in the non rainy season here now. We won't see rain again until probably October. Fortunately it hasn't been that hot ... like last year when the 100 degree weather started in June. Just normal summer 90 degree temps. Last year our pool heated up into the 90's and I actually got in and swam a few times. I attempted to get in last night with Allison and it was 78 degrees. I just couldn't stay in my teeth were chattering so badly. Allison being a kid swam around like a mermaid. I enjoyed watching her. We call it our midnight swim, but it's really at 9pm.

Dave, send some of your rain our way! We haven't gotten anything but a few sprinkles for the last 4 weeks...our yard looks awful. I water the front so it at least looks presentable, but the back yard is a mess. My husband loves it....for him no rain=no mowing! Maybe I should go out and do a rain dance!

Preach it, brother! We're in the middle of some severe thunderstorms even as I type--may even have some tornadoes pop up--hopefully not though!

We're having the opposite effect here--Maya's garden is going nuts with all the rain (and me not planting tomatoes this year because they use too much water, LOL!) and some late summer bulbs we planted out front awhile back have started blooming, and they weren't due until the end of August/beginning of September!

We're in a safe place, but there's been lots and lots of flash flooding here because of the ground being so saturated--y'all be safe from the weather, wherever you are!!

We feel the exact same way. It feels like we are in a tropical climate here in Houston. Very weird. Although it has always been hot... we have never had rain every day for this long.

My hubby has been complaining of the same yard problems also. The grass around here is getting tall over nite. We probably should be mowing at least twice a week but with the grass always being wet that is impossible. Plus I doubt hubby would want to mow twice a week. ;)

I guess it all comes down to it is better to have rain then no rain at all, right?

Please send some our way. We are way below normal for rainfall this year and could really use some. I noticed today the banners the city put up for the

4th of July celebration have the word fireworks covered up. I guess we won't have any this year because of the fire danger.

I would love to send some over to you! It seems that ours is starting around lunchtime each day. My grass is so tall, but it's too wet to mow it now. I did get it mowed last week before the rain kicked in. I would just be happy with one day of no rain here..lol! It's still hot and that makes it even worse...Hope ya'll get some rain soon.

We've been getting rain in squal lines. Heavy downpours with lightening and thunder.
