OT: Shipping via UPS to Canada

HI Everyone,

I sell on eBay and Overstock as well as through my website to a lot of people. Occassionally I have to ship to Canada and it was a hassle to do so because of all the paperwork UPS needed to get it to clear customs.

Well I made friends with my UPS driver Doug who after gratefully using our bathroom and drinking a huge glass of water (it was 98 degrees last summer and I had the A/C on) he told me how to get around the customs hassle.

create your package as usual making sure everything is ok. It will prompt you asking if you want to fill out the paperwork or do you want UPS to do it. He told me to have UPS do it but make sure you put the type of item as gift/papers and where you put the monetary value put $1.00. I think he also said there is a place where you can say "of no retail value."

Secure the box good and tight and then print out the label. REMEMBER to sign where indicated to release the customs paperwork to UPS.

...and there you go.

Hugs, Kate

PS, because I have an UPS account I'm not sure if they charge extra for that service. But boy it does save a headache or two.
