Shipping

Does anyone in the group have any idea how long it takes for a package to cross the US/Canadian border? Answers going in either direction would be helpful. What method is best? USPS? UPS? DHL? FedEx?

Thanks! Theresa, the Chirstmas elves' assistant :-)

Hello, If it's coming from the US into Canada, I would say ship it USPS my understanding that anything courier requires us to pay a fee. Depending how its shipped, I've had ebay purchases take 1 - 2 weeks. Hope this helps, Judy

They also pay a fee if it comes from a "company"... if the return address is a company name they pay too.

My experiences in the past found that UPS is cheaper than US mail, HOWEVER you gotta have the recipients telephone number too. That was with UPS, I do not know about FEDEX or DHL.

Does FEDEX and DHL ship from US to Canada?

I'm talking under correction, but I think DHL is around the world, because we have in South Africa aswell.

I am waiting for a calendar to come from the US and the company said it can take 5 days to 5 weeks to get up here. We only have 3 points of entry for our mail from the US to Canada. And it can take forever for it to get to its final destination. I got this straight from a Canada Post employee who brings parcels to our stores post office. She said since they closed down Calgary as one of the points of entry, parcels coming here alone are taking forever. They go to Vancouver, Toronto and I think Ottawa (not sure) before they get sent to the city's post office, then to your home.

I definitely say use the USPS. As far as time goes, I'm not sure. I mailed to Barb last year but don't remember how long they quoted me, or how long it actually took. If I remember right shipping UPS, FedEx, etc results in large fees due the recipient in Canada.

Yes a courier costs us big in duty when it arrives! Regular post is best, just check of the gift box on the customs tag and put a low money value. It should take about 2 weeks. Barb:o)
