OT: Why I've been lurking..

HI All,

As everyone knows, who's been here for a long while, I fought depression for a long time and every once and awhile it rears its ugly head.

With the love of Larry and his unconditional support, I've been working through something that has been haunting me for awhile. Happily I've come out the other side and am glad to say that my "ex" has been extremely helpful to Larry and to me. We consider him a dear friend, without him a lot of crap that I've ignored has been brought out into the open and dealt with. Ken has been very helpful and we have both healed. I love Larry and will never ever doubt that ever again. What happened in the past has been dealt with and now a healthy friendship has emerged between the 3 of us.

As they say "God closes one door and opens a window" and as of April

15, 2009 we will be in possession of a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment RENTAL and will be moving in April 19, 2009. We moved into my inLaws because of my depression and the lack of work for me. We tried very hard to buy property but in NYC it is nearly impossible to find housing in our price range and the homeownership help doesn't include us because we make too much money.

The rental is everything we would want and I get a craft room. At the moment the management company is gut-renovating the apartment because the person who lived in it never had anything updated since the

1970s. I love you guys quite a bit and hopefully the crafting bug will hit again.

I'm working on something for Sarah for her 4th birthday and once I move into the new apartment, I look forward to crafting again without the guilt of making a mess.

Hugs, Kate

Kate I do believe that you and Larry will be so much happier in a place of your own. After you get settled in perhaps you can think about buying a place in the Poconos. They have 2/3 bedroom homes for as little as $80,000 and every weekend the resorts are filled with people from Long Island and N.Jersey who rent in the city but own a home in the country.

Murphy's Law just hit.

With this horrid economy the Govenor of NY and the Police Commissioner Ray Kelly started to lay off Provisional workers.

Effective today at 3:30 p.m. I was one of the Provisional workers who was laid off due to budget cuts. Larry and I did sign the lease for the apartment and move in the place in 20 days.

My test that I took in 2007 was never finalized therefore I wasn't on any list. In February of this year I took the property clerk test but it too isn't finalized yet.

At least now I can clean this apartment and craft.

Hang in there Kate!! Can you at least get unemployment until you find something else? Don't let this setback ruin the pleasure of finally getting your own place...its just another hump in the road.....yeah...i know...too many humps.....(((hugs)))

Girl you have the worst luck but at least everything went through before you got laid off. You will find something or maybe you can collect unemployment and go back to school for something. My sister got laid off and the local community college is offering free tuition to any county resident laid off and so she started school back in Jan.
