OT: Wicked Weather

NYC got a wicked storm this morning. We're fine, bunch of branches down.

Brooklyn thinks they got a couple of tornados.

It was weird this morning a odd color of green/orange sky. The lightening and thunder just rocked the house. Flash Boom no time to count inbetween.

We were a little flooded but none in the house just street flooding.

It shut down all mass transit, The Grand Central Parkway, The Van Wyck Expressway (my way to work), the Long Island Expressway at Woodhaven (alternative route to work) among other side streets.

Here's the news:

Kate, it is good to hear you didn't have any flooding at your home. I saw the news on CNN and it was unbelievable. I couldn't imagine having mass transit out in NYC.

I'm glad you're okay and no flooding in the house. I can't imagine NYC mass transit shut down and what havoc that created!

My husband's friend from work lives in Brooklyn and her commute is usually 20 minutes by subway. She left her house at 6:00 a.m. and arrived at lower Manhattan at 12:30 p.m. -- 6 1/2 hours.

As of this morning subways were still out of commission and to think they are threatening a fare hike from $2.00 to $3.00 each way within a few months. If they think a storm is bad wait until New Yorker's strike.

Kate,

I live in upstate NY and I have frequent the city often and I can't even begin to imagine the havoc there must of been with the transist system delayed/shut down. I'm glad your okay though.
