Hey all! My name is Abby, and I've been knitting for about two and a half years. I had to set Thunderbird up in order to read Newsgroups for my Computer Science classes, and I discovered there were some groups in here that are wicked exciting.
Anyways, I'm so glad to meet you all!

Welcome!
I'm another newbie-ish joiner to this group. I've been on Usenet for about 15 years now, and using e-communications a couple years longer than that. There's a group for everything.
I resurrected my knitting skills after a 10 year lapse during which I developed a still very active quilting interest - but I decided out of the blue to learn to knit socks last October. Still got a lot to learn, but it's the perfect complement to quilting, as I can put a sock ball in my pocket and take it with me - try that with a 6x8 foot sewing table and computerized machine - doesn't work.
I take my socks to conference calls, though - gotta go, another one in
5 minutes!
Tell us all about what you knit.

Well, I have a couple of projects going on. Mainly hats at the moment. See, I have my own site where I sell my items, but I don't have any hats up yet. So, I've been trying out a couple of new designs.
Anybody have any ideas? I'd like to make some more baby items and other funky stuff available. I appreciate all of your help!

Glad to meet you. I've been wondering about how the more modern systems can be set up to read newsgroups; I'm using trn, an ancient, reliable but strictly plain system that I will probably have to give up soon, and I have no idea how to set up Firefox, for instance, to read newsgroups. Did your class cover Firefox as well as Thunderbird? Got any hints?

Firefox is the web browser, Thunderbird is the news/mail reader. You can set it up similarly to Outlook Express.
