Photo Storage

How do you all store your photos, either ones you are waiting to scrap or ones that won't be scrapped? I was going through some photo boxes yesterday and all of the photos in them have curled (probably because they are standing up in the boxes). Is there another way to store them to prevent curling. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I have a digital camera and my photos are stored on my PC. When I'm ready to scrap, I print the photos I want. All of our photos are saved to a CD and then stored with my scrapbook for that year. Each photo is in a directory named for the month and year and each photo is named for the day it was taken. Example: In the August 2004 directory, my files are named Aug 26 01, Aug 26 02 for the first two photos taken on August 26th. We backup our files every few days.

This way I don't have boxes of photos laying around. It works for us! Brandi

I store my photos that I will NOT be scrapping, in a photo safe box....and the pictures lay flat. The ones that I am waiting to scrap are separated into envelopes or photo envelope and I have them standing up in another box. Some of them have curled, but that is because I stacked too many of them on top of each other. Maybe you should lay yours flat. One other reason that they may have curled is excessive heat or excessive humidity. You have to be so careful where you store your photos.

Thanks for all your ideas. I'm going to have to get some more boxes so I can store them flat. -- Cathy So. California

if you go to lowes, they have rubbermaid photo storage boxes with a thing to hold them tight... no matter how many you have... warping is because of humidity.. (i'm a photography student and they use either these or highsmith boxes)... if you use these, again, they have an adjustable thing that holds them tight against one another so they don't have room to warp, no matter how full the box is... its one of the best non professional systems I've seen. They only run about 5 dollars too.

I'm curious if these boxes are photo safe. Just because the company making them says photo storage that doesn't mean they are good for the pictures. I looked them up on the website and nothing was said about photo safe.
