help please-looking for project storage ideas

I've been storing my projects in project bags, and actually have a fair amount sorted and ready to scrap. I went to add some pics to a bag last week and noticed that since I have them standing upright, the 12 x 12 paper in them is getting bent. So, I'm looking for boxes or a storage solution that will hold 12 x 12 papers, embellishments, pictures and all the other project related stuff. The 12 x 12 plastic crop cases are not large enough for my projects.

Not what I want:

I don't think this is sturdy enough for what I want:

I would like lids that can withstand being flat and sideways. I'd prefer the solution to be under $15 a box. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Kathy

i had some of those first things you posted and they tore apart pretty easy... Generations actually replaced them the first two times then finally sent me something different... the plastic "welds" were defective...

Kathy, I use 12x12 cardboard storage boxes from Highsmith for all of my LO's and projects. They are very sturdy for me. I carry a couple of theme to every crop and even try to keep one in my van for shopping trips to keep my paper safe on the trip home. I put page kits together and store them in the boxes and just grab one when I leave for a crop. It all depends, but I can average around 15 kits in each box. You can see the boxes in a photo of my scrap area in the Miscellaneous Album in my webshots account - the photo is titled Shelves above the work table (last photo on page 1) This is the Highsmith website:

scroll down to the bottom of the page and select corruboard - they are the album storage boxes I have not ordered them since the colored ones came out. Sandy

Sandy, This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! It should do the job perfectly and the price is right. Thank you! Kathy

Glad to help. The ones I have are around 4 years old and get used all the time. They are holding up very well. Sandy

You might want to go and look at Lowes! They have awesome snap boxes made out of a thick cardboard. The bigger size easily fits 12x12 plus a lot more next to it. They were around $5.00. They only come in Black or light green but they were perfect for me since I had to do more upward storage.

I store all my cardstock and paper in 12 x 12 craftkeepers (about $1 each on sale) and I place the craftkeepers vertically in 2 sterlite bins with lids (6.99 each) that I bought at Walmart. I have about 75 craftkeepers and they fit perfectly in the bins. (I took one to walmart to make sure it would fit). I haven't had a single paper bend yet.

I use boxes made by Iris. I like that they are clear and hold lots of stuff. You can see them here:

You can get them at The Container Store and Michaels. I'm sure other places have them too.

Ohhh, I like the look of these! I'll stop by Michaels later this week. We don't have a Container Store in the Twin Cities, although I have ordered from them off their website. Thanks! Kathy

I'll have to give a look-see the next time I'm near Lowes. I'll have some shopping time this weekend. Thanks! Kathy

I have a couple of these for paper, but they don't hold much when it comes to the projects I have going (which can be an inch or more thick between pics and embellishments. I guess I should at least put my paper in them for now, hey? That would keep the edges from being bent. Good thought. I'm making a Wal-Mart--Michaels run on Thursday, as I'll be on that side of town-and that Wal-mart has a much cleaner/nicer craft section. Thanks! Kathy

I have a minimum of 2000 pieces of paper in one and at least 500 pieces of cardstock in the other plus I store albums in them. These bins are big, about 13 inches wide, 15 inches high and 30 inches long.

I use the Iris ones for ongoing projects and for scraps. When I am travelling by plane I always fill one with all the supplies I'll need for the project I'm working on at the time. They are great to put in a suitcase as they are very sturdy.

I use the Lowes boxes to store, still waiting to be done page kits amd photo paper and sizzix plates and quickuts etc. Their CD size boxes are only $1.89 which is a great deal and work well for ribbon.

I found some awesome storage bins for my stay-at-home projects. I also have lots of plain paper stored in them, since each drawer is pretty thick. They're Rubbermaid brand and they have three pull-out drawers that slide in-and-out very smoothly. I really like the fact that there is a bit of extra room in the drawers, so I don't bend the pages while trying to take them out of storage. I first found them at Target for $10, but I just recently came across them at Hobby Lobby for about $13. I can't find them on the 'net!

Anyway, since me and my dh live in such a small apartment, my scrapbooking space is pretty small. My husband said that he was tired of finding paper all over the place, so these bins have been argument-alleviators...and they fit easily on my workspace!

I use these as well only mine came as a set with a caddy on wheels. It fits right under my desk. The caddy holds 6 of them. I got it at Costco.

I looked at this link.

Then I looked at some other stuff there.

Then I bought a paper box, some battery storage cases, a couple of CD boxes, some paper trays ...

Um, thanks (maybe!) for the link ... :-) Enabler.

I bought some Highsmith boxes and Iris containers. Those darn Highsmith boxes were here 2 days after I ordered them! Now that is service! My projects are now out of their bags and are all safe and stored in their new boxes (I bought 9 containers total). I am very pleased with both solutions. Thanks everyone for your help-really appreciate it. Next purchase-a storage cabinet. Thank goodness Ikea is just down the road. Hope to have all set up by Labor day. Or is this organizational stuff just a perpetual problem?

Thanks again everyone-you made an otherwise stressful work week very enjoyable.

And for gods sake, please quit posting the enablers for Sizzix. I've spent a ton already! Kathy
