Quickutz v Sissix and alphabets

Since this is also a frequently asked question, why don't we turn this into a poll that I can post!

I love the sidekick... lightweight,easy to use. I use it for the sizzlits and the quickutz i have. Went to a glass shop and had some new plastic plates made for less then they are from sizzix.com. made my own adapter for the quickutz to work in it to. I absolutely love the sidekick.

the sizzix is for the larger die cuts. It is heavy and not really take around portable. I also use it for some sizzlits. Thye have a new adapter for it for the quickuts to work in it. I have an accu-cut die I use in it too.

the quickutz handle is ok if you don't have either of the other two items. It gets hard on your hands after a while of repetitive cutting. It is lightweight and portable too.

There is nothing like the full size sizzix. You can use all sorts of dies with it including the regular sizzix dies, the sizzlits, the QuicKutz and the Accucuts. It's all a question of the converter and the shims you use. So you can pretty much pick out the alphabet you want from any of the above companies as well as the sizzix embosing folders and use them on your sizzix. As for the price it is more expensive that the side kick or the QuicKutz, but with either a Michale's coupon or by bidding on Ebay you can really lower the price.

Although I dont have any other die cut machines, I actually prefer my 15 lb beast to anything else... I also prefer using the Sizzlits alphabets for cards and layouts with a bunch of letters over the regular Sizzix alphabets. The Sizzlit letters arent very big, Im thinking 1/2" or so, as compared to the Sizzix Alphabets which are an inch. *Please dont hold me true to that!*

I have a Sizzix with the attatchment for the Sizzlits. I am very satisfied with it and have three alphabet styles. The Sizzlits are smaller and these are very handy for both cards and layouts. I use my Lolipop style and my shadow letters on many of my LO. I like the look of cut letters instead of sticker alphs sometimes. I use my Sizzix /Sizzlits for alphabets more than the rest of my die cuts...but do like making my own diecuts.

I've tried the others in stores and at crops and prefer my sizzix which can use the other dies as well. One price and such diversity. Weight is not a factor for crops as I just sit it in the bottom of my rolling toolbox with the dies I think I might need and go. Plus, it is great for smashing bottle caps! I only own the shadowbox alphabet set at this time, but use sizzlits alphabet sets borrowed from friends. Sandy

I love the Sizzix. and Sidekick!!!! The quickutz handtool I have recently sold. I found with the quickutz your hand starts to hurt after using repeatedly. Sizzix now sells a converter so that you can use to convert to the quickutz dies.

I only own the Sizzix machine right now. I like the versatility of it since I can use the thick Sizzix dies along with the Sizzlits, Quickutz & Accucuts. (Although, I don't have the convertors for the other brands, but knowing they're out there...oh yeah!) I've used the Quickutz at a LSS and with my carpul tunnel, I know I would wear out my wrist before too long.

I just checked the Sizzix website and browsed through their alphas. Looks like the dies cut letters/numbers from 1" - 1 1/2" tall. I like using the Sizzix alphas for titles on my layouts. I haven't used them with cards yet. I'm a crazy stamp floozy who uses stamps to make cards and who knows what else! LOL

I don't own any alphabets, though. I only use it for shapes.

When I print, I tend to use my computer/printer and cut the whole phrase either with my Fiskar flatbed cutter, or make a freehand shape with scissors (and use the Xyron for adhesive).

I only have the sizzix machine but I love it. I use it a lot. I don't have any alphabet sets as of yet but I'm working on that.

By the way, this week at Michaels they have 30% off all Sizzix Dies. The sale ends Saturday May 7th.

1.I just got mine, but after playing with it and getting the main pad replaced it works wonderfully and will be easier on my arms and shoulders, plus it can be used with all the other dies.

1. Because it is the next most portable machine and when I get the adapters I should be able to use it with the Zip 'Cut and QuicKutz dies too and is easier on the arms and shoulders than the QuicKutz.

I have the Sizzix die cut machine. I first used it at a friends' house and HAD to have one for myself! I dont mind the weight of it to take to crops. I think it is very versatile for the many dies and embossing folders you can use in it. I have the Lollipop uppercase alphabet, and the numbers, I also have the Script. The Script alphabet I have used on both scrapbook layouts and cards, and I like it because of the shadows you can use, and you have both upper and lowercase. I also have 2 sets of Sizzlets which I use with my machine, with the converter. I have the small tag set and a Christmas set. I use the small tag set quite a lot for page titles. I have found most of my good deals on Ebay! I have a small assortment of the yellow, green and red dies too. I have never tried the Sidekick, Quickcutz or the Zipemate or any other of those systems. I love both the Sizzix and the Sidekick. I bought the Quickutz from QVC a few months ago but have not used it yet. There is and adapter for the Sidekick to us Quickutz dies now so I will probably just use those. I don't like the tool because it is too hard to use. The Sizzix/Sizzlets dies are a lot cheaper too. Especially the fonts.

Ouch!!! Dang it who threw that sandle?

I only have the sizzix, but I recently went through this buying delema. Let me share with you the reasons why I chose the sizzix over the sidekick, zipemate, or Quickutz....it boiled down to availablity and versitility.

• Having a Michael's close by and their 40% coupons made the sizzix and related dies very accessible. I could only find Quickutz online. Zipemate, I've heard very little about.
• I was concerned about possible pain in my hands using a Quickutz.
• The sidekick only works with sizzlets -- I wanted it all baby!
• I haven't tried it, but I'm told the Quickutz dies will work in the sizzix with a converter.
• I don't frequent crops (maybe when the kids are grown) so portability was not a requirement

I like the sizzix very much. I whipped out a title for a Girl Scout poster last night in just a few minutes. It was great!
