RCS 2006 Fun Filled Flass and Floozy Festival POLL

Aug 15, 2005 10 Replies

Here is a copy of part of my post in the "Would you Consider a RCS Meet Here" thread as it pertains to the poll.

Personally I would prefer Orlando or an airport that is an airline hub like Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas as they are much cheaper for everyone to fly into. Another place would get my vote is Minneapolis, Minnesota end of May or early June. You can get to Minneapolis on a direct flight from Kansas City ($227), Tampa ($278), Little Rock ($284) and even Saskatoon ($495)! Sorry Barb, it is more expensive, but it's direct and the flight is less than 3 hours. It's a Northwest Airlines Hub I guess. I've included Little Rock, Kansas City, and Louisville, NYC and Phoenix, Arizona. Little Rock, Kansas City, and Louisville are all fairly expensive to fly into unless you are flying in from one of the airline hubs. I'll be happy to add any other city that you'd like, but that city must at least have an airport.

April/Cowchipper, isn't Minneapolis/St Paul were the Mall of the Americas is? Are there any good scrapbook stores there? However we will all have to stay in hotels there. I guess depending on the number who would come if it were there, I could try to negotiate a better rate for us as well as some sort of a meeting room. I have put 10 cities up on a poll on my yahoo group and created a portal for you to go to to subscribe.

POLL Given Katrina's post, I thought we really should take a poll, so I've set one up on my yahoo group. I have put 10 cities up for you to vote on that people have mentionned to me plus all those mentionned above that are airport hubs. Here is the link for the portal for the yahoo group:

I would suggest that you consider air/carfare, check

to see what the fares would be from your city to the ones mentionned before voting so that you can make an informed choice. The first poll will be followed by a second one with only the top 3 or 4 vote getters included. Please do not vote if you have no intention of attending the meet no matter where it is!

Hope this helps us to figure out where we should go!

Here is a list of all the cities in the poll:

Atlanta, GA (Delta Hub and excellent public transit even from airport) Charlotte, NC (US Airways Hub) Dalllas, TX (American Airlines Hub) Kansas City, KS Las Vegas, NV Little Rock, AR Louisville, KY Minneapolis, MN (Northwest Airlines Hub) Nashville, TN NYC, NY Orlando, FL (cheap airfare rates and housing) Phoenix, AZ Salt Lake City (scrapbooking meca) San Francisco, CA St. Louis, MO

Mall of America is in Minneapolis, Min. I stayed at a hotel less then 2 miles from the mall. It aslo had transportation to and from the airport, mall, store, and a few other places. IKEA was just opened there the day we left and is in the Mall of America parking lot.

Archivers was the only scrapbooking store in the mall and there was a stamp store too. As for the city we didn't rent a car and venture to the city. We spent 3 days at the mall and still didn't see everything.

Could we add Columbus Ohio please? Its a major hub for most airlines, we have over 30 LSS's within an hour of the airport and I can get us some cheaper rates due to a few connections I have.

Thanks April,

Well as we know from previous RCS meets, 2 days isn't a lot of time when you're meeting a bunch of friends! One Archivers and a stamp store, plus a fun time shopping and sharing and scrapping together sounds like just the ticket. I've been to a big Archivers (Phoenix) and a small one (Dallas) is this one big?

M-C

Can you believe? Archivers and mall of America are holding a ScrapFest Sept

9-11, 2005. Would be great if there were a convention or scrapfest where ever the meet is located. Sandy

Hmmm, I wonder if my Archivers is big? Big enough for me anyway.

M-C, I haven't been to one up there but Archivers is out of the twin cities area so I'd think it would be pretty good sized. At least one of the many they have there ought to be anyway. I have been to the Mall and it is big. I actually was thinking Minneapolis might be a good place to get together and then I read your message saying the same. Well, I've already cast my vote at the yahoo group. I am pretty confident that I wouldn't be able to make it out to Orlando though. Quite honestly, when I'm there in Oct it'll prolly be my last trip to FL. At least for quite some time anyway. Katrina in KS

I don't think I would be able to make it so I haven't voted. I just know that with 2 kids that we don't have the money for me to fly anywhere. Plus I just never know when Ally will get sick again. It is very possible that we will be back at the hospital. It does sound like a lot of fun though and I hope that anyone that gets to go has lots of fun.

If it ends up in Orlando, I'll find a way to get you there, promise. We are all praying that Ally gets better quickly and the prayers from this group have proven to be powerful stuff!

M-C

Thank you M-C! Sorry haven't written back. Had my best friend here for the week :)

Thank you M-C :)
