I used dial up for years. Before IE I used a program call Free Agent to get newsgroups. I do find IE easier to use and I get my email in the same place. But Free Agent worked very well and was.... well... free. It can be found at
She will have to use something like news.earthlink.net in the properties... when I was a dial up I used news.sna.com It's like your email address, but you don't use an @ sign. With the dial I didn't need to use my user name and password, but ever since I've been with earthlink they want to use the user name and password to get the news. So, she may need to check with her dial up. Most internet companies have a web site and will help with the set up of things like newsgroups. At least the 4 or so internet companies I've had over the years have all had web sites that could help.
