Hello again!!

Wow, drop out of sight for a while, and look what's going on

I have a strange glitch in OE that isn't letting me into this group only, and I fear that the way to "fix" it is to uninstall OE and reinstall it, but that's a royal pain in the posterior region. So I'm suffering with Google for this group only. Eventually I'll completely trash OE for Thunderbird or something else, but until then I'll struggle.

I did get both versions of the witch hat pattern; thanks to Michaela and Anastasia for the translations. It looks so cool!! I was gonna go buy myself a pointy hat for this Halloween, but now I can make myself one. I found a t-shirt that says "Wicked Witch" with a silhouette of a witch on a broomstick, and I figure that can be my Halloween costume this year. Folks have been calling me that for a while now, so I may as well play it up

I've been surrounded by fires, and we're getting a minor Santa Ana condition today that should cool off over the weekend (and it's about time autumn got here, dammitall!!) Just got through a round of

*something* that was going around here; not quite a cold and not bacterial, just annoying.

I have a few finished objects to report - woohoo!! I made myself a Martha Stewart poncho, and also made one for my sister for a birthday gift. They turned out great. I whipped up 3 fun scarves to donate to my daughter's school. Her school's only fundraiser for the year is an auction, and these will be auctioned off with all the other goodies they have. On the non-yarn front, I finally finished Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum's "Celtic Spring", which I started 5 years ago. In all fairness, it sat idle for about 4.5 years before I picked it up again this past July as something to do while listening to my daughter practice with our temple's choir every Monday night. Next up are some afghans to give as holiday gifts, and a Halloween-themed cross-stitch sampler; it's actually for Samhain, but it's got all the "traditional" Halloween things on it, like pumpkins, ghosts, witches, and brooms.

Hope all is well, and for Mirjam and anyone else who celebrates, a very sweet New Year.

Hey, "The Other Kim"! Nice to see you!

As for the hat, let me warn, in caps, that you MUST use a rather stiff yarn for that hat. I finished mine, but am debating whether or not to take pics. It's, well......how to describe it? My husband says I look like a redneck muppet or a smurf who's joined the dark side in it. Of course, that doesn't really bother me all that much, but if you want it to look like the picture, use a crunchier yarn with a stiffer hand. I'm probably going to make another one, using Lamb's Pride, but I won't get to it for awhile. Seventy thousand other projects going at the same time......I think if I start another one, my husband will move out. Now wait a minute.......that's an idea.......

Hi Kim,

Great to see you again, it has been a long time and you sure have been busy. Oh it takes time, but you'll get used to google, I have.

Hugs,

Nora

Try unsubing to the group and then re-download the list of newsgroups provided by your IP. Re-subscribe and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't there is a chance that your ISP has dropped the group. DA

Welcome back, Kim! Have fun with Google. I hate it myself, but it is useful at times like this.

Anastasia, Not having all the translated patterns in front of me, I do not know if any of them mention that the pattern asks for an eight ply yarn, that is indeed cord like I would say, or rather heavy. I will give it a try as well, but not right now, I have so many other things going on right now.

I gave up on OE for reading newsgroups and got Free Agent, which is much better and also (obviously) free. I still use Outlook for mail. And I've upgraded to the pay version of Agent.

After all, you should only have a husband who says nice things about your knitting - or maybe he's really fond of smurfs?
