Hooked on?

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if there is a certain stitch or pattern that you are hooked on and love making things with it? I sure am, Rusty got me interested in the hdc stitch at the beginning of this year and I haven't got tired of it yet. I've made forty two afghans using that stitch, two strands of yarn and the N size hook. I used to enjoy the V stitch afghan, but this is more fun and works up so nice. Most of the time I use a solid color and a varigeted one and I love the way they work out. How about you, what are you hooked on?

Hugs,

Nora

Sounds good Nora, I don't mind most stitches, and do the hdc one in alot of my 6x6 squares...I also like the popcorn crochet stitch..

Nora, I am taking my bows now for introducing you to hdc and the N hook.

I like to do the hdc, it's fast, and it is a stitch that has body to it.

The N hook is big enough for the work to go fast, but not so large that the result is too loose, in my opinion. Rusty

still learning to knit, but I found a nice scarf pattern. Makes the scarf on the bias.

I agree, N is my favorite hook. I only use one strand, though. I think that just makes the most cozy afghan and it works up so fast that you don't get tired of the thing. I made a granny square afghan with my N hook in about three days last December (quick gift!). I'm not a patient crafter at all, so the N hook is definitely a keeper. I used to like my Q but I haven't used it in so long. I made a hdc afghan with my Q and two strands of yarn one Christmas in a day and a half--also very cozy and warm, but I felt a bit like a cheater since it was so easy and so quick! My worst project ever involved an H hook and a large afghan. I thought it would never end (took me nine months and some intense crochet sessions toward the end), and while the result was good (it looked great), it wasn't an afghan you would want to cuddle under. I think my friend hung it on her wall.

That's a pretty scarf, and a brooch along with one of these will be very nice for Christmas presents. :o)

Hello again....... newbie Bonnie in Kentucky here. I would say my most favorite stitch(es) are the afghan stitch and the knit stitch used in tunisian crochet. I love to make ghans with the large afghan hooks. Sorry I don't get to check in often, I work way too much these days LOL Great question you posted.

Hi Nora,

I love making granny squares, it was the first thing I learned to crochet. I'm almost finished a shrink for a neighbor, she bought the yarn - variegated green and beige. The second to last round of the front and back squares is made of V stitches, which makes a nice frame both visually and tactilly.

I like granny squares because I can do them pretty much automatically and do other things at the same time - talking with someone else, listening to the radio or music, thinking...

Cheers,

David
