I use skype almost every day to speak to people and most of the time there is little or no interference with the sound (though sometimes there is a slight delay or echo). Since we have unlimited broadband connection, it is the cheapest way to speak to people in other countries... I even know some people who use it all the time to talk to people next door...
We now use the skype version with the webcam so we can also see each other. The picture is very good considering but with the webcam the sound quality often suffers. I also noticed that using my stereo speakers amplifies all the sound interference so I use the small inbuilt speakers in my laptop for skyping.
I think it would be great to skype other scrapbookers with the webcam because you can then share layouts live and maybe compare or advise each other!
