Recovering Soldier Holiday Card

When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, also include one for the following address:

A Recovering American Soldier c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center

6900 Georgia Avenue, NW Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

If you approve of the idea, please pass it on

Although this is a wonderful idea unfortunately they won't take them.

It is very sad that they won't but I can understand their reasons.

I too can understand their reasons. I would like to remind everyone that Kenda's oldest DS will be graduating from basic training this month. If nothing else, maybe Kenda could share with us whether or not we can shower him with Christmas cards.

I was disappointed to hear Walter Reed woildnt' accept the cards. I wanted to do this as a project with my kids in school. I hope Kenda will share her son's address! Lin

I saw that as well. That would be great if we could send them to Kenda's son.

Ladies - there's a couple of other options if you'd like to get involved and help soldiers, but don't know anyone in specific. Call your national guard offices (locally or for your state) they will probably be able to give you information for soldiers who would love to get mail while serving overseas.

A second option is a website and organization called Any Soldier. On their website

you can find information on soldiers who are looking for stuff for themselves as well as their unit. On the website, you will be able to get their contact information, read emails, see pictures, etc for different military units.

This is a ligit group...I know someone directly involved with publicity for this organization. While we lived in Georgia, (about 45 min from Ft. Benning) our Sunday school class sent at least a thousand dollars worth of supplies (socks, t-shirts, toiletries, stationary, cards, batteries, music, phone cards, magazines, basic first aid kits, etc) to soldiers. These soldiers are protecting our country, but cannot get basic needs without spending what little money they have.

While you may not know anyone directly, you just have to get creative. Hope this information helps!
