Polly's 'Quilt for a US Soldier' photo

Quote from Polly's email (with her permission)........

" ..... quilt will be shipped to Germany to wrap around a wounded soldier. It carries the message 'thank you from America'. When I put me to bed at night, I thank God for those who are far away protecting us. God bless them and their families and other loved ones. Bobby's a Korean War veteran and mostly he's just supporting with my baby quilts - but he is always very proud of the ones we send to Germany. "

This was her 'marshmallow/puffy' quilt which was tamed with 5days worth of quilting. Good job, Polly!!

Thank you so very much for letting me share the Poof quilt with rctq. You know, I had plenty of time to think about it and I believe I created that problem myself. I remember stretching the backing and batting firmly and then simply smoothing the quilt top over it. It could be that the quilt top puffed up when the taut pinning of the sandwich was released. Could be. Polly

Actually, Winston is such an animal. He's the first one out the door when anybody mentions 'party'. Polly

Thank you, kind friends. I'm enjoying the camera and appreciate Jenn letting me show off. At least now you know that I really do quilt and am not just a pretty face. (Yeah. Right.) Don't know what became of our Leslie and her Fur Faces; I want her to see that I actually had thread in the bobbin when I was doing the log cabin blocks. Polly

Leslie's computer has been a bit iffy - due to weather conditions. Some bits died! I expect she'll be back when she fixes it! . In message , Polly Esther writes

Jennifer asked very politely what was that thing in the sewing room ceiling. That's fold-up stairs to the attic. We live within 120 miles of 4 airports. One day DH was going up those stairs, barely had his head above the ceiling just as a loud jet came over waaaay too close to our home. It sounded like the plane was coming inside. You'd just be surprised how quickly my old sweetheart can get back down those stairs. We're not really on what I guess they call a flight pattern but about once a year some new pilot gives us a shudder. We've thought about putting a sign on it: Not an Exit, Men's Room, Mezzanine.... something. Any ideas? Polly

Polly soldier quilt is absolutely fabulous! Such a perfect color scheme and the eagle in the middle is incredible. Terrific work! I know it will comfort and soothe the soldier who receives it.

Thank you, Michelle. I surely did search through a lot of eagles before I found one that was just right. Didn't want one that looked like he was about to bite. Polly

Some eagles do look rather fierce, don't they? Yours just looks proud. :-)
