Polly's new QOV photo

For years I searched for a red, white and blue floral appropriate for a QOV. This one is Michael Miller's 'Durango'. Then I had to hunt fabrics to calm it down. I wanted the recipient to be comforted and this print was much too dazzling. Doesn't seem much like I'll ever Ever get the camera doings right. The carpet in our little family room is simply a boring blue/gray. In the picture, the light shows it brilliant turquoise to gray. Mercy! Yogi only weighs 11 pounds and in the picture he appears to be about the size of a Clydesdale. Maybe I'll just surrender and get Edna Pearl to come shoot the next quilt with her phone camera. So. Anyhow. This was one of the first quilts that I pressed all of the seams OPEN and if you put your nose up real close, you'll see that it (for me) works very well. What do you recommend for healing my smooch/mushing shoulder, elbow and wrist. Heat? Ice? Castor oil? I have killed them all. Polly

I can see why Yogi approves Polly, the quilt looks great. I don't care what colour your carpets are Polly but I wish that there was a small dust bunny one the floor somewhere.

Nice work Polly - the RWB floral is just great, and gives a very different, yet still patriotic feel to the quilt. I'm sure it will bring pleasure to its recipient.

Another wonderful quilt! I probably wouldn't have thought to use a floral in a QOV, but it works really well. Thanks for being so good to our servicemen/women, Polly. And, Yogi, you're an excellent QI!

Wow! You done good!
How do you like pressing seams open? Or rather, how do you like the results of pressing the seams open? Did you find it easier to match points?

It's just so much easier for me to match points. Could be that the thickness of a seam pressed to the side was causing just the least little hump/slip that was preventing me from easy/pretty matches. Could be that I learned dressmaking long before I began quilting and I'm just more comfortable with pressed open seams. Just as a caution, I've started making the stitch length just a little shorter . There's hasn't been a problem with an open seam coming undone but I suppose it could happen. Polly
