Saturday while I was waitig o my performer to come in (his plane kept getting delayed) I deided to pass some time by going to my fav LSS in town (one on south side). I had not been there in 6 months maybe (heck I shop on the road!!)

Well they had a card class going on and I watched and asked questions too! Anyhow what I saw was they took a ink pad or some ink markers and ran them alog the dge of their paper. They they took distress ink and smeared over the top edge of it making interesting color contrasts and marks. it looked good, but I still do not like the distrss ink thing.

Anhow I tried TONITE the ink thing on some mats for pictures I was doing and ZOWIE! It looked pretty good.

I also got brave and got out my chalks last nite and tried them too after I saw them doing it. ZOUNDS! I liked that too as it does add just a touch of somethig to a pcture mat.

So I am pretty easily impressed and no have something more to do to spruce up things. As if thre is not enough to do and learn!1 Now onl if I could SEE someone working with fibers I may be set - LOL!!

Oh, I also did some shopping - OF COURSE!! I had to get some thigs (really th ereason I went) for my NSSSF, but added more to MY stash, oh about 60 pieces of paper. Also found some keol stickers for cards AAANNNDDD

I saw this really kool looking Christmas card idea that I gotta try, using bubble wrap!! really easy so I will see - LOL

Anyhow I am happy for this month and for next month will go to another LSS and see what I can find NEW for my NSSSF (OK - ME TOO!!)

Yae for Dave! I actually tried the distressing inks on the edges of picture mats in a class this spring. I fell in love with the look. It just added the something extra you were talking about.

If you ever are in Houston area.. I will show you how I use the fibers.

Adding ink or chalk really adds deminsion to anythign you add it to. Aren't ya glad you stopped in and listened to the class Dave? LOL You should do that more often, that way you can teach us new techniques! LOL

Dave, what did you see them do with the bubble wrap? I saw a technique on DIY using bubble wrap and a bleach pen, and pressing it on dark cardstock. It was a pretty cool idea! Linda C Illinois
