Strange question for those outside US

Hello, In Canada, we are supposed to be on the metric system. Our scrapbooks are listed in inches, I've never looked but the metric equivalent is probably on the package. Judy

Jacqui, in the UK we have been metric since the 1970's and it is a pain in the butt! Personally, I convert everything back to imperial measures as I find it easier to work with. The metric system lacks consistency as Joe Public gets/buys things that are described in centimetres, the building industry use millimetres (DH is a builder) but some things are still imperial size and it causes all sorts of problems. I don't know why they have to change things anyway...LOL Now I am sure that answer really satisfied your curiosity....ROFL

Jacqui, I was quite lost in the beginning when I started scrapping as we never use inches in SA. We are fully metricated (lol, did I just create a word there?) and work in cm and mm. That also go for our money and all food stuffs and weights. I was born in the seventies, so I never new any other system befor then. Most of our scrapping stuff are imported in SA, so it does get tricky at times. When I recently purchased a Cutterpede, one of the big plusses was that the ruler had both inches and centimeters!! Makes life a lot easier :)

Our packages are all supposed to have the metric on them. For most things I am comfortable using either measurement system but some things just don't seem right in metric. For instance I always converted to inches my girls height after the nurse told me how many centimeters long they were. I usually don't use the metric on scrapbooking materials either. The metric tends to be listed with the French, which I ignore because I can't remember my high school French.

I measure in inches and feet. Canada went metric when I was about 13 or 14 and I never did get used to it. It makes it tough when we talk to the kids. They measure in centimeters and kilo's. The only time I go metric is when I'm driving. And then it's only kilometers per hour speed limits. Other than that, I live a mile from work and about 600 give or take from my parents. Ask me how many kilometers and I have no clue.

LOL Judy, I like that metrisized word ! We have both systems to a degree. In the medical community we go by ccs and liters etc...but have pounds and ounces and inches too. I think it would have been great to have never known but one system LOL

I measure in both.Depending on what it is & how precise I need it.

For the most part though, for scrap booking, I eyeball it:>)
