Thanks for def M-C. I am still addicted though my shopping load is a lot lighter these days. I still love ALL of those corner punches and have quite a few and want still more, even though they rarely get used. I guess I really am A FLASS too! Oh yeah, I love, love, love homemade paper, mulberry, maruyama etc. too. Somehow I've managed to have too much to use and yet not near enough to just have. Dang! Whataya know, I feel exactly the same way about my fibers too! LOL

I started by working at Michael's... big mistake! LOL. Then I would spend too much on supplies there. Now I look for coupons and sales. Still spend alot but luckily I make more then I did then. :)

Loved your post! It really is nice to find out how we all became more than mere scrapbookers but obsesed with buying all those supplies, just in case.

Just imagine what the supplies of everyone in this group would look like piled all together! Would we need a room, a house or a warehouse to store it all!

What's a power layout thingy? If it will help you do 15 pages in a day, I need one....or two!

Hello my name is Cathy and I'm a FLASS. (Sorry this is late I was out of town over the weekend :-)

It all started a few years ago when my DD was looking for a cool way to keep her high school pictures and memories together. We found these wonderful scrapbooking supplies at Michaels and JoAnn's. We started out slowly with paper, decorative scissors, a few punches, stickers and pens. I kept the whole scrapbooking thing under control, a few pages here and there. After all, I was a knitter, not a scrapbooker.

Then in the summer of 2003, we took the vacation of a lifetime with our best friends. As a thank you for the trip, I made them a scrapbook (75 pages in a month and a half). After I finished theirs, of course we needed one too (80+ pages) and as they say the rest is history!

After a while, the supplies started taking over the house. My DD was complaining about all the scrapbook stuff in her room (told her that's what happens when you leave home for college!), so I went out and bought a new sideboard for the dining room. It now contains 2 drawers of placemats and napkins and all of my scrapbooking supplies!

Luckily my hubby is very supportive of my hobby and brags about my pages. He even tells everyone that my new job at a LSS is a jobby (a hobby that you get paid for).

Oh MY GOD! I'm out of the loop for a few days and FLASSDOM has taken over!. Yes, I admit it I too am a FLASS. Finanaces too short these days to add to my addiction, buy I did get Roadrunner back up and running just so I could jump in with my two cents and catch up on everyone else's stories. You guys really lift my spirits, and give me hope. I'll be back to my flassy self soon I'm sure. Thanks for the laughs to all of you. My sides hurt.

It's so nice to know I am not the one with this chronic addiction!

I am a FLASS too!

I think it's truly deep rooted - I have always had a love of stickers and pretty paper. When I was a kid I had books and books of stickers I'd collected, and would trade with other girls on the back of the bus. I LOVED those stickers. In fact a truly traumatic event in my childhood was when I went to vamp one year, and came home to find my mom had cleaned my room, and thrown out my entire collection!

So now maybe I over by as compensation. :)

I tried to avoid getting hooked on scrapbooking - really I did. I was already into plenty of other crafts (Stamping, beading, crocheting) and he last thing I needed was a new hobby!

But a dear friend of mine started selling CM, and invited me over to scrap with her. I fell for it. And for awhile tried the CM thing myself - didn't work (falling out with the girl I was trying to partner with, and we both had other jobs - but it is a great company, and I love their products)!

So now, I have a TON of leftover CM stuff, and lots of project ideas. I just need more time, and always want MORE stuff!

Anyway - I also started scrapbooking for other people as gifts, incuding a baby book for a friend of mine - who swore she'd never get into it and now wants to give it a go.

And then recently I found this group, which is so much fun, informational and inspiring. I've only been on a month or so, and alreafy I am looking forward to participating fully with swaps, et al.

Thanks for being so welcoming!

Yes, that is what I'm talking about! I love it. Instead of packing everything you own and taking it to a crop (did that before...YUCK!), you load up the power layout thingy then go from there. It is a VERY sturdy box and has dividers with tabs. I lay them all out on my dining table (there are 15 so you need a big table or use the floor), then pick paper, embelishments, photos of a certain type and put them on that divider, then do the next one. When I know I'll be doing several for one theme then I will do something like pick background papers (if I'm using them) for each page, then put the stack of photos and embellishments for all 5 (or however many) pages on one divider so I can end up "loading" more than 15. Does that make sense? Yes, I end up taking extra stuff just because I convince myself that I'll fly through all 15 pages and have so much time leftover...NOT! There are people to talk to that I haven't seen since the last crop, there are snacks to snack on, there is lunch to eat, potty breaks, the inevitable phone call from one of the kids with some "what they think is an emergency but really isn't" like maybe that they can't find the TV remote or the cordless phone or their book that they have a homework assignment or what can they have for a snack or what I'm going to fix for dinner when I get home... Anyway, I generally set a goal for the 15 pages then take extra stuff just in case. I actually did 2 more than my goal of

12 when I went to National Scrapbooking Day in May then after that I worked on some calendars I had planned on doing for my extended family...until they decided we would DRAW NAMES! I'm glad I hadn't filled in the numbers yet or I would be scrambling to figure out what to do with them (I bought 10).

Ok, Now it's my turn.... I got started thanks to my sister and a co-worker. Last November my sister had a creative memories party. At first I didn't think I was going to go. I had seen a scrapbook or two, but just thought wouldn't it be easier just to put it in a photo album. My co-worker brought her stuff to work to show me what she had and what she had done. She let me play with all of her cutting tools. It was very exciting.

I went to the party. I had already had a catalog. So I had been planning out what I would like to get. I left there spending probably almost 150.00. And I had scheduled to host a party of my own. It has been so addicting for me. Buying this and that. First I started out getting the cutting systems and things. Then I had to have the organizer for my stickers. Then I had to buy stickers, and papers, and die cuts. That's where I got hooked on to e-bay. I started buying stickers, then die cuts off of there. Now I'm buying all kinds of things off of ebay. For an example, around the 4th of july. I bought a 4 foot metal pool off of there for 76.00. WOW!!! We did have to drive 4 hours to get it though.

Anyway, scrapbooking has been great. It's very relaxing. And time consuming and costly. But I think in the long run in the years to come it will be so nice to have those memories. This group is wonderful. I've meet so many nice people. Thanks again for allowing me to come into your group.

Now lets go scrapping!!!!!!!

My name is Teresa and I became a FLASS. QVC is the culprit with me. I started watching and had to find the things they showed on TV it was 3 months before I actually started using what I found. Now I have to have the new toys and embellishments.
