The crop was fun

I just got home... the lady who organises it is a scrapbooking teacher and she has the most amazing setup - lots of tables and chairs in her livingroom and scrapping stuff all over the place! It was interesting to see how the cricut works - now I REALLY wish I could have one... she also showed off stazon metal inks (cute) and shimmering h2os (very cute!) (drools in envy)

I didn't get a lot done on my baby album - I carted along all my stencils and gelpens and never even used either once, and I forgot to take my embellishment box or a ruler! I also took all the wrong colours of cardstock - I was going to do it all in pink so I took a ton of patterned paper and all my pink/purple scraps, and the album somehow morphed into totally pastel but I forgot to take along cardstock, so all I was wishing for was blue/yellow cardstock to supplement the scraps!

I'll have to do much better next month... I'm tempted to tell DH we have to go to Joanns tomorrow and use the 40% off coupon to buy a cropper hopper - I carted my stuff along in a carry bag and it doesn't work well enough!

My biggest (and almost unforgivable) oops was that I squeezed past a chair and they had their cup of coffee sitting on the table behind them - and I noticed the mug but assumed it was a)empty and b)further away from me than it actually was... so I knocked it over and it had an inch of coffee in the bottom of it, and it was right next to their album! OMG! They were very nice about it, and it was fortunate that the album was turned away from me, because the pockets only got wet on the bottom edge and nothing could get into them... I never would have forgiven myself if I'd wrecked this girl's first ever scrapbook!

Sounds like you had a good time. I know there are some new ones out but I don't know the names. I think Mimi and one from Memory Makers. I still have the Navigator from crop in style. It works. Have fun next time around! Diana~

Yeah... Sherri's going to have a poll to decide which day of the week people want each month, so that more people can go. She likes Saturday nights but there were a few people who said they have to work or have other committments then... I only took water myself, in a bottle with a twist-top so that it can't go anywhere, and I left the bottle on the floor so it wouldn't condense all over the table. The girl was a novice and only about 16 and it was her first crop and her first scrapbook so I guess she didn't think about potential dangers. I was just kicking myself because I SAW the mug standing there before I squeezed past her, but I didn't notice the light-brown coffee sitting inside the light-brown mug, or I would have picked it up and moved it myself!

I'll be better-prepared next time... I tend to be a 'kitchen sink' type person and I was TRYING to be prepared and minimalist but I went overboard. Next time my minimalism will include a rainbow of cardstock just in case I change my mind about something once I get there! I was so careless I didn't even remember to take any WHITE! I just took the three base colours for the album and forgot that it needs contrast or it'd look awfully boring...

Glad you had a good time at the crop. I remember the first crop I went to, I forgot all kinds of things I needed. So for the next one I made sure to take more than I thought I would need. It seems like no matter how much you plan, you always forget something.

It is wonderful that you had a great time and plan on going back! Not a big deal if you didn;t get a lot done, as this was a learning experience and was a great for socializing as it was for scrapbooking. Sometimes when I go to a crop I get a lot done, but mostly, I must admit I enjoy the people and looking at what they are doing!

Sounds like the way my nights run! (only I was taking mine to work and forgetting everything (never mind I crammed my tote full! LOL)) Next time will be better as you kinda know what to expect now.

About the lady with the coffee, she took the risk of having it spill simply by having it on the table.

Let us know how the next one goes.

So glad you had a good time and got to meet other scrappers! And you'll get to do this every month...wow! The baby album sounds like it's going to be a great album when you're done with it. It's always interesting to watch something start out one way, and end up another. I do that, then ask myself, "How did that happen?" LOL But it's usually better than what I envisioned, so it all works out. LOL
