Torn Bears

Is there a secret to getting the mulberry paper to tear where you want it to? I trace the pattern on the back and wet the paper with a water pen but it won't tear nicely no matter how much water I use.

I have used Mulberry paper to make torn ginger bread men. It was a bear. (pun intended :)) I ended up wetting the paper in a shape of a gingerbread man and using tweasers to get it to tear where I wanted it too. I think I'd try handmade paper next time I give it a try.

Use handmade paper... bazzill does a great one....and use a babys toothbrush to "fray" the edges to your liking

I find mulberry tears better if you lay it flat, wet it where you want to tear it and instead of picking it up to tear it, just use both hands and pull it apart while leaving it flat on the table. Usually works for me:>) If you come across a thick fiber, just snip it with your scissors & carry on.

Hope this helps:>)

I've only done rectangles/squares... it's very hard to get it to tear in the right places. I found that it's best to use a lot of water but to only do a tiny bit at a time - dab the water on and tear an inch, then repeat... sometimes it just plain doesn't want to work. :( ~Karen aka Kajikit Crafts, cats, and chocolate - the three essentials of life
