I would then send an e-mail to both parties asking that they please have a photograph taken of them holding their beloved creation as they are in the top "5" of your contest and you need a photograph for "lawyer" reasons.

It is your contest and if neither comply or give you a hard time you can always "kick" them out of the contest for fraud.

Not knowing your contest, or the particulars it is possible that the two entrants just do similar work. But then again you never know. Kate Interrante

That's a really good idea. But you know they will probably have someone else hold one of the two albums.

If they are mother and daughter it wouldn't be difficult for them to take the picture of them holding the layouts though. I did send her an email asking if there was another layout that she could submit since one was already submitted using the same picture. I haven't gotten a reply yet so we will see. I hate to be this suspicious, but it's too coincidental. And I have to think of the other participants as well.

If she used the same photo in two different layouts maybe she didn't read the rules carefully and it was an innocent mistake? But you did say there are two different names....

HI,

Since it is obvious that the same identical photograph was used in two different layouts under two different names and you are not sure of the authenticity of these layouts -- I would suggest that you void both entries.

It is your contest and you have the last comment on what to do. To keep yourself from a liability lawsuit or such, I would send both "contestants" an e-mail stating that you are voiding their submissions.

Once you straighten out the ownership issue you can always add them to the contest later.

This is just my suggestion. You'll have to ultimately make the final decision. As my favorite teacher once said "listen to your gut, it will never steer you wrong."

Well, unless that person is really and truly and incredibly stupid, I'd guess that two different people from the same family or two friends sent it in. I'd just ask them both in the same email how they are connected and how they came about choosing the same pictuire to scrap. Out of curiosity, is there journaling on the LO's and how do they have things in common?

Hi Hannah I wouldn't judge them too harshly until you find out for sure. My DD & I both scrapbook & since she has my only 2 GS's it's not unusual for us to occasionally scrap the same pictures with out the other knowing until later.

yeah that makes sense, it's just I dont understand why they would both submit a layout to the same contest using the same picture. I assume the daughter told the mother about the contest afterall. Oh well, I'm not going to worry too much about it anymore. She hasn't responded to my email so I don't know what I will do. THe contest deadline is Monday so I guess I have until then.

Yes, I must say this was also my first thoughts. I would play open cards with them and say that you have noticed the same picture was used in both LO's and was wondering how this could happen? Simple as that :)

Ask them if they were aware that only one per customer! If they say yes then tell them you thought you had made a mistake as it clearly looked as if the same person had done both layouts.....at least that way you can let him/her know that YOU know!
