Xyron Design Runner Purchase Update

My new toy arrived yesterday:

It takes a couple of passes on scrap paper to figure out alignment and how to hold the runner but after the trial and error period of about 3 minutes, I LOVE IT!!!!!!

My goodness it is so small. It is a thicker mouse and takes up little or no room. The disks are the size of the memory cards of our digital cameras and they have their own containers. I've got them stored in a zip lock bag (lack of any other ideas for the time being).

It only prints black right now as I don't know about other colors. I'll upload stuff tonight when I get home from work.

I couldn't wait to share.

Where did you get it and how much did it cost, If you don't mind me asking. I want one of those so bad! I also want that new dye cutting system or whatever it is they are advertising on the DIY channel during 'scrapbooking' The pink thing... Looks like a printer but does so much for scrapbooking. :) Thanks for the answers. Have fun scrapping!!!

HI Christina,

If you clicked on the link you saw where I got it as that is the actual auction that I won.

Because she misjudged the shipping, she threw in an extra ink cartridge.

The personal cutting system. I have that and so far have been happy with it. The books (shapes) for it aren't too expensive and they have so far a pretty decent choice.

The design runner looks interesting but not something I would pay for. Now if they made it so that you could use a standard memory card and say EPS graphics or something so that you could print whatever you wanted then that would be interesting. However, based on the cost of the design cards for it I don't think it is worth it. At least no for me.

I wish companies would stop designing things that have far reaching uses and then kill them by making them so they only use expensive proprietary designs, etc. They just come across as either not to bright as they don't see the potential and the sales you could get if they didn't or they are just way greedy. Either way it is a shame.

For me Robert, it has to be something that takes up little or no space and has the ability to multi-task. I liked the other two products on the market but again it was a space issue, that is why I sold my sizzix machine.

So far I've used the design runner on a bunch of things. It has almost paid for itself in less than a week on projects that I've been struggling with.

Hey Kate!

Hope your having fun w/your new toy! WoW you got a great price for it!

I was thinking about buying one after trying it out @ AC MOORE during the FREE SCRAPBOOKING CRAFTS FAIR it's a bit costly & having to buy all those extra's w/it maybe someday I'll get one @ a discounted price w/a

50% or more off coupon, that's how I try to buy my more expensive scrapbooking items!

It's something you have to get used to where to place it on the paper & when it starts to print! Other than that it's really kewl!

I just wished they sold an optional card that allows you to create your own sayings, gifs, etc. downloaded from your PC then it would be a lot more fun!

Right now I'm going to get the CRICUT but I have to buy it from QVC since they give you 2 cartrides w/it GEORGE, DOODLE. No place else sells the extra cartridge it is ONLY for QVC!

I have seen it @ MICHAEL'S & AC MOORE on sale so can't even use a coupon to buy it!

I really want the CRICUT it is sooo much like the GERBER SCIENTIFIC SIGN MAKER machine my brother had & made vinyl signs with & that just sits in my garage since it's quite large & I have no room for it in my scrapbooking crafts room yet!

I thought about cutting the rolls of vinyl so it can be used like a sticker & sizing it to be use w/the CRICUT!

I have soo many colors to choose from. My brother made a few hundred flags decal/magnets some w/the Fireman symbol after 911 donated them & the local fire departments sold them as fund raisers! So now his memory lives on whenever I see a car go by w/those decals he made! He died in June 2002 of adeno-carcinoma he just missed his 45th Birthday by 20 days!

So after seeing how the CRICUT worked & I said it's a mini-version of his sign machine & just coming out now!

I have bought a few CRICUT items like the tool set w/a 40% off coupon @ MICHAEL'S & carrying case w/a 50% off coupon!

I have the SIZZIX which I bought many years ago @ MICHAEL'S w/a 60% off coupon it was one of those few hours sales on a Holiday & the place was packed.

I haven't used it yet because of space & time available, until everything is all set up & not searching here or there for some items when needed!
