Xyron Design Runner

I've been looking at the product descriptions of this.

Forgive my skepticism, but isn't this just a high-tech version of a rubber stamp? Only with limited ink colors?

Or are the product descriptions just too vague?

HI Gina,

I just bought the design runner and am so in love with it. It is so much more than a rubber stamp. Yes the inks are limited but you aren't limited to what you can do with it.

The descriptions are vague but I tested three new toys at Michaels and thought this one was perfect for my limited storage options.

So far I've made one thing with it and after a few trial and errors, it is so verstle.

Check my other posting to see the layout and what I got off eBay.

No I think you hit it on the head. An electric rubber stamp.

Kate, how is it not like a rubber stamp. It lays down ink on most materials using shapes, text and other designs. That is what rubber stamps do. If it does something different please explain?

In which case the advantage is that it doesn't take up all the space that a cabinet full of stamps and ink pads does! But how is it different to just printing stuff off your computer and cutting it out?

I saw April's (Cowchipper's) and it is small and self contained. There is certainly an advantage to that if you have to share a computer with your husband. There is also a huge advantage if you go to crops away from home. I'm not sure I'd buy it, but I can see why someone would if they don;t have a lot of space and don't want to have loads of stamps or dies to store.

Well you can run ribbon, etc. through your printer. The only advantage I see to the design runner is you can print on more things than an inkjet printer would allow. Now I don't now if they offer ink that will work on slick plastic and metal, etc.

As for space. Maybe if you only used small stamps. However, I doubt the design runner can print things like the big background stamps. For a decent resolution image the unit would have to have some major memory to handle that.

It would be interesting to know what the largest design it can print is.
