2 1/4" grosgrain equivalent

I make these climbing shoe covers. I'm using a 2 1/4" grosgrain but I am looking for something a little more abrasion resistant and a little heavier? I do not want to cut to width or cut to length and would rather buy by the roll.

Anyone have any ideas?

Light weight webbing?

The polypropylene webbing on this site come is several colors, and widths to 3" (but not 2 1/4"), and it comes in 100 yard rolls:

Also, you may be able to find a nylon twill tape, this would be heavier than grosgrain which has no abrasion resistance so to speak, but won't be as heavy as webbing.

You may end up calling around. Try someplace like Rockywoods, Quest or Rose City - they all carry more than the usual assortment of outdoors materials. If you call and explain what you are doing they may have other suggestions for you.

Good to know, Penny, thanks. I have no experience with outdoor gear, so I appreciate your input.

yes, it is not strong enough. When in doubt, get yourself to a technical mountaineering/climbing shop and take a look at the mateerials that are already being used. The manufacturers do R & D on all this stuff for you. ;-)
