A first for me

Making myself a new long sleeved shirt, and decided to be adventurous and put upper and lower plackets in the sleeve opening, rather than continuous lap as I've always done. It wasn't nearly as hard as I expected. Someone here (I can't remember who, but thanks!) recently mentioned Connie Amaden-Crawford's book, Guide to Fashion Sewing, and its illustrated instructions were very helpful.

Of course, it did temporarily dampen my enthusiasm to find that I'd inserted the plackets for two right sleeves. *sigh*

Dear Doreen,

My students did that routinely. I came up with a one-piece placket that looks exactly like the one you did, but it's easier. One of my Asian students actually unpicked and re-did one that she had done; most of my students just swore and either wore it that way or cut a new sleeve.

Teri,

Fortunately this is a very tightly woven chambray, so I was able to unpick and redo one sleeve without a problem. I can imagine the nightmare that might be in some fabrics, though.
