Bear Tails

I've been asked to make leotards for teddy bears for a gymnastics meet this weekend. The bears selected for me have more substantial tails than the average teddy bear. Should I

a) make leotards and pretend I didn't notice the tail? b) make leotards with a hole for the tail? c) amputate the tails?

I lean against choice 'a' because of the unsightly lump. I lean against choice 'b' because the tails aren't long. If the girls take the leotards off the bears, they might notice choice 'c.'

Thanks, I'll make a sample with a tail hole this morning. I am just a little worried that with the leo on, it will look like the bear is performing a bodily function.

The bears aren't needed until tomorrow, so I can still experiment a little, but not too much.

I think it will look like a tail not a "function." lol I've seen lots of dressed bears and they usually have a tail hole.

You were both right. I made a buttonhole style slit across to match the tail shape and the tail sticking out looks great.

Since the bears are soft and do not have a great range of motion, I'm not using stretchy fabric for the leotards. Since it frays, the tail holes have to be real finished buttonholes.
