Hello everyone, My very first post... I have a Bernina 830 (1970's - ish) that I literally found in the street. Aside from a few cosmetic problems, it works very well. Only issue is that the lever to adjust the stitch length doesn't want to lock in the shortest setting. Um, if you know what I mean.. So, I can't get the decorative stitches to look very nice. As far as I can tell, this model has no adjustment for the stitches beyond width and length.
Does anyone know if there is anyplace I can buy or download a Bernina 830 Service manual? I have a printout of the users' manual, but that doesn't help much...
There is a Bernina Dealer/service center 'nearby', about 10 miles away, but I don't currently have a car. I am also a little nervous about getting it serviced. ('It can't be fixed... They don't make the parts... How about this $7,000.00 combination sewing machine / serger / coffee maker / alarm clock / rotisserie? )
So, I'd be grateful for any advice. :)
