Bernette 90e

Jan 19, 2006 2 Replies

I'm new here, new to sewing, and was given a new machine at Christmas - a Bernette 90e.

I had a much older generic-type of machine and was used to the vertical bobbin. The 90e has a horizontal bobbin, and it's giving me fits. I don't seem to get it threaded properly! The diagram in the manual is no help (too small for my old eyes), and the directions aren't much help either.

Does anyone out there have this machine, that could pass along some advice on getting the bobbin threaded? I'm getting frustrated, and really want to figure this out.

Your instructions for the bobbin are perfect. (I have an Bernette 80e) I too would like cleaning and lubing instructions. The only explanation I see in the book is for cleaning lint out of the bobbin area. I hate to just start unscrewing things and have the parts come off in my hands.

For the original poster check out page 34 "Inserting Bobbin" (page number may be slightly different). Then using Brandy's instructions, the book, and sitting in front of the machine give it a twirl - you should have that "pup" threaded up in no time.

Also, I know the instruction book says to have the machine off, but you really need the light to be shining on the bobbin opening to see what's what and what goes where.

Good luck, it really is easy once you get the hang of it.
