I suppose it depends on the type of sewing you are interested in as to what constitutes the "best" sewing magaine. I like Threads Magazine. The price is a bit high, but I usually buy it when the craft store has a discount coupon in the Sunday newspaper. I prefer this magazine because of the emphasis on sewing clothing, pattern alteration and couture sewing techniques. The magazine has changed a great deal over the years since I first started reading it--dropped the knitting and quilting topics. I do miss the surface design information and home sewing. Don't see that much anymore in their magazine.

I just recently subscribed to Threads because people here seem to like it, and the cheapest subscription price I found was from an eBay seller, in case anybody is thinking about it.

I have had a steady subscription to SEW NEWS since it was printed in a large newspaper type journal in the early 80s. And it seems forever that I've had a subscription to Threads, usually a Christmas/birthday gift from one of my DDs. I just started a subscription to Machine Embroidery and I also like Designs, but haven't subscribed yet. There was another one, Sewing Savvy, that I really enjoyed, until Clotilde took over & it lost some of its flavor, so I dropped it. I keep thinking now that I don't sew as often as in the past, I really should drop some, but can never decide which one. So as another posted said, "It depends on what type of sewing you are interested in doing." Emily

After nearly 30 years, I've taken up sewing again. I've been sewing clothing and want to try my hand too at some sort of window curtains. Cindy

I remember Barbara Weiland from another mag, so maybe should look at a more recent issue and find out if what I came to dislike about it then is gone. Emily

I like Threads the best, but don't get it anymore. I read Sew News, but not much is new. It's a good basic magazine for people who sew and embroider.

I am sorry to see so many articles about machine embroidery in any of the magazines, though. It's just not something I'm interested in.
