Calling recent mothers!

Which is why coffee drinkers are now being served bath water. I'm glad I never liked coffee.

Hello all,

I know this thread has perhaps gone a little cold, but I feel that, after bringing in the coffee story, should at least explain, or try to, what I meant with it.

Well, I'm really sorry for this lady, especially since I'm well aware that your body doesn't mend that easily when you're older. But I still think that it is basically her own fault if she got burnt. If you handle liquids in plastic cups on your lap in a car, no matter if it's moving or not, something is bound to be spilled. It's the nature of this combination. And it's my own responsiblity to prevent this. There are a lot of other situations on which you may apply the same priciple.

I love our daughter dearly, she is the light of our life, and much as I want to protect her from any harm, I have to remind myself constantly that safety is an illusion in this world. The only sure thing is that we all will have to go one day. I think that we like to forget this, after all this attitude is not really encouraged by media, politicians etc. because then we'd stop being little more than sheep on the way to - let's call it shearing. I don't complain, it's our responibility to end this state if we don't feel comfy with it. Well, if our darling gets hurt it might lighten the load on our hearts to blame somebody else for it, but deep down we would know that it is our responsibility to protect her by our thinking ahead. I lost the end of one of my fingers during my time as a cabinet maker because I didn't pay attention. The workplace had all the mandatory safety equipment, it was me who failed to think in the crucial moment.

Where did I want to go? Well, I just meant to say that the more regulations there are, the less people feel they have to use their own brains. If something happens, someone else has to take the blame. A childish attitude, and it harms the society in general a lot. In these modern times we need to be wide awake, but this is going really totally off topic. I did my best in trying to express my thoughts on a very difficult topic in a language that is not my native one. Sorry if I stepped on anybody's toes, I hope you'll forgive me.

U.
