embossing velvet

i'm thinking of some fairly simple things i can easily make to sell. one of the ideas was embossed velvet gift bags (around

10cm by 10cm) for things like chocolate gelt or Christmas candies. i've embossed rayon velvet, but it's not my favorite fabric. does silk velvet or silk/rayon, or cotton velvet emboss well? i will have to mail order anything except the rayon velvet, so i'd like some idea what works before i start flinging money ;) do any of the velours hold an embossed image? lee

I believe rayon/acetate works the best. You can check out the site

She gives a lot of information.

Cathi

I remembered an article in Threads magazine about embossing velvet - checked their website and it was issue 75, pages 68-71. I can check the article for you later if you would like.

oh, thanks. i'll go look it up. i have almost every back issue from #1 on. i am missing around 7 issues that a friend of my ex borrowed & never returned (& i know that at least one of those, the Koos issue) is sold out in back issues :p i do toss a lot of magazines, but Threads has enough useful info to earn magazine boxes. lee

I found this article on the net, it may also be helpful
