I finally got around to making a fabric bowl Friday. They are a lot of fun to do. Most of all I think they are a great skill builder. For me it was an opportunity to be reinforce rotary cutting skills and to be sure I measured very carefully. It was also a good chance to strengthen my skills sewing on edges and keeping my needle exactly where I wanted it to be. That meant keeping my eye on the little red dot of my open toe foot and not on the needle. That's something I always have to pay close attention to because I tend to let my eye wander. I gave the bowl to my youngest DD filled with an assortment of crackers. I picked up some pretty fat quarters at a little fabric store north of where I live, on Tuesday. It's not a place I get to often. The woman who owns the store was a big help in picking out fabrics and when I couldn't find everything I wanted in the fat quarters she had on display she cut some for me. I really appreciated that. She said she likes to do that because she gets patterns and colors she might not necessarily cut. Before I close I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
