Does anyone have a source for the quilted silver-backed fabric used for pot holders &/or hot pads? I'm making several embroidered items for a fund-raising auction, and I'd like to include pot holders to match some aprons, but I can't locate the fabric.
JoAnn Fabrics has it, too. I bought some there last year and was at the store on Friday. At least my store has it and they had the quilted type and just the silver cloth if you are wanting that.
Thanks, it was a little too late last night to check at my local TSWLTH, but I'll head over there today. I have a 40% off coupon, so it should come in under the online prices. ;-)
Mine didn't have any, not even the unquilted stuff, according to three different clerks I asked. Nor did The Mill End Store. :-( I haven't tried Fabric Depot yet, but I found an alternate source: Dollar Tree. ;->
I'd have been happy to pay $10/yard (locally) for some of the real deal "Quilted Therma-Flec" and just add the excess to the stash for some future project. But I can't see paying $8.95 S&H for a $10.00 order. I love Dollar Stores. ;-)
I am making a denim apron and matching pot holder, embroidered with designs from this set:

donate to the fund-raising auction for DGD's Highland Dance group. [NAYY] I'm going to change the blooms to shades of purple and periwinkle. The "Madeira Sage #1392" thread is a bear to find, I finally located a cone while out today.
Then on the way home, the car behind me decided to run the yellow light at which I stopped. Luckily for me, a sheriff's patrol car was two cars behind. No better witness then that! ;-> My lovely car has a bruised bumper, and the moon-roof isn't operating correctly. But at least yellow-light-runner had insurance, and they have agreed to take liability for the damage.
C'mon in, the water's fine! ;-) I love, Love, LOVE my embroidery machine. I have always enjoyed sewing, but this takes creativity to a whole new level. I have had mine for
I know very well. Having just spent $XX,XXX on the two bathrooms, I'm debating replacing the large single-glass-retrofitted-with-a-storm-pane window in the living room. The only reason I would jump this year is to use the energy tax credit. But so far no one has shown me a product I'm willing to shell out $1,700 for, net of credit. :-( Not that I'm unwilling to do my part in helping the environment, but I can't squeeze that out of the budget right now.
I chose the Singer Quantum XL5000 after Pogonip gushed about the endless bobbin feature. I do like that capability very much, although I can also see that removing the hoop to change bobbins would not be that onerous. But it is nice to wind bobbins off the large spool with no extra effort at all. I also like the way it stitches, and the digitizing software is such a lot of fun to play with.
I made a lumbar pillow for my remodeling contractor (after learning that he has back pain), on which I embroidered his company logo and name. He was soooo delighted, you'd think I had done something really spectacular. Now he wants me to hire me to make similar pillows, tote bags, and/or aprons as thank you gifts for his customers. You just never know what life will throw at you when you get new toys. ;-)

Oh crap!!!! And after the water pump. (Did himself email you about that?) Why do people have to pick on my pal, Beverly and her cute little car???
*sigh* I am so sorry. But I'm so glad you are all right!!!!
The car can be fixed. If they broke you, I'd have to load up the Sewing Room Posse and we'd have to road trip out there (picking up members along the way.) Then find the other driver and do something horrible......probably involving pinking shears and/or T-pins. ;)
I really am glad you are alright. I hope you can get the car repaired quickly and without too much hassle. Remember, no matter what the insurance company says you should be able to take it where you want to have it repaired. You were not the one at fault.
Wish I was closer. I'd come drink a soothing glass of wine with you.
