help with bathing suit

Hi guys, I know I have been gone for a while and I miss you all! But I have managed to start following along again. I need some help with a bathing suit. I am making a one piece and I just got the latest Husqvarna overlock, the Huskylock s25. What stitch is best to use for applying the elastic? I usually use a regular overlock stitch and then fold it to the inside and zig zag from the outside. Since this machine seems to do everything but make dinner, I thought there might be a cooler way.

Wow! Your new machine looks amazing. I can't speak from experience since my machines are much older and more basic. If I had your machine, I think I would be attempting to replace the zig zag with a coverstitch. I have learned by experience that it is well worth the time testing any new elastic application method on both straight and curved edges.

Thanks Betsy, I will try that on my next bathing suit. My daughter was leaving on a class trip to France so I didn't have time to re-thread the machine. I will have to practice that but it has 22 stitches and some look really interesting. I would also like to get some of that clear elastic that seems to have more stretch in it. Kirsten

I was preferring the clear stuff for a while. Now I'm leaning back toward the more traditional elastic(not cotton wrapped). The clear stuff tends to tear more easily, but it is nice and thin, which I like for very lightweight fabrics.
