glass buttons

Hi there-- I'm a glass maker [and a newly-minted knitter and "sewer" !?, hooray!]. I've started to make glass buttons and am wondering if anyone has ideas about where to market them, and more importantly, what're considered the marks of a quality button--short shank, long shank, drilled holes, glued shanks, glass shanks....I really have no idea. I've started working with a spinner/dyer in my area to create matching buttons and yarn for a local shop. I'd like to do this in the best possible way...I treasure the idea that 30 years from now someone will be getting a beautiful "hand-me-down" angora sweater or "couture" coat with sparkling glass buttons..... ;) Cindy

I'm afraid I can't answer any of your questions, but what a cool idea!

Can you go to quilt and/or sewing shows in your area? General craft shows? EBay is always a place to start, but you won't do as well until your name is known. I'd love to see pictures of what you're making.

P.S. I prefer buttons with holes in them, but that's only me.

Other than the usual eBay, you might look at

Lily Abello's site is also a good place to start looking.
