Help needed

I'm having a senior moment and can't think of the name of the material I would like.

Before I go on holiday I thought I would make a few tops in some crease free/crease resistant material -- can anyone tell me what type I'm looking for? As we don't have a good choice of shops where I live thought maybe I could get something online -- I'm in the UK.

Many thanks.

Seersucker, perhaps it's kind of pre-creased.

If you're looking for a knit, jersey is wonderful. You can wad it up in a ball and it will fall open wrinkle free. It's good stuff. I have used cotton jersey and poly jersey. Both worked fine.

Thanks Claire and Sharon. I'll have a look around and see what I can find.

Google for "Slinky Travel".

The RTW outfits are made with knit polyester "Slinky(R)" fabric. You may be able to find the yardage locally (maybe Kate has a UK source), or online here:

I made several pieces using "Slinky" for a trip, they pack well, but the fabric may not be suitable for very warm and/or humid areas.

Knits are generally easier travelers than the same fiber in a woven. In terms of resilience (creases shaking out), the order is, best to worst: nylon wool olefin acrylic polyester silk flax cotton rayon acetate

Adding a little lycra/spandex/elastane helps increase resilience.

Another choice is to go for the deliberate wrinkles... I used to travel with a couple of "broomstick" silk tops and pants. Twist 'em up and toss 'em in the suitcase. If they got dirty, I'd hand wash, dry most of the way on a hanger, then twist them up.

You've both helped me very much. I'm off to look for "Slinky Travel" also look for fabric from Kay's list. As I'm going where it is hot (hopefully) during the day, slinky may be best for evenings. Many thanks to you both for the information.
