Home!

The weekend was great, and I got lots done! :)

I sewed up:

One dress toile (Vogue 7995), which is for a customer, but I thought my friend would also look good in it, and so she tried it on. Result: it fitted like I'd made it for her not the customer, and she wants one for a wedding she's going to in August... Now to fit it to the original customer!

One skirt toile (Vogue 2898) for another customer.

One top toile (McCall's 2818) for the skirt customer.

Half a top toile (second version of above for different customer), but the back didn't fit the side back, so I;ll have to re-cut it. Something a bit off in the pattern alteration...

One Fabric Bowl made with two fat quarters and some Timtex.

We bought:

3.5m pale turquoise Irish linen for my friend's dress. Though not a normal habit of mine, I *will* wash this and dry it on HOT to make sure it doesn't shrink later. Linen can be a little odd like that. This was from Preston Market.

Some serger thread to match. This fabric FRAYS!

A zip likewise...

The end of the bolt of white linen just to add to my stash! :)

I had a great day. DH and friends had a lovely walk, in pouring rain and mist! Oddly, though it was HIS weekend away really, I think I got the better deal!

Way to go Kate!!! Seems like you are taking my sewing energy and adding it to yours...lol.

I was busy this weekend as well: base cabinets installed, countertop cut and joined together, walls behind cabinets primed, sinkhole cut out of sink, sink, new faucet, and garbage disposal installed. I have the pipes hooked up for the sink and we tested for leaks...have to get a new hot water hose, but other than that, everything is, as my DD would say, "ready for go"

Now I just have to unpack everything, hang the toiles up, and get on with the next bits...

I should also finish off the quotes and estimates and contracts, but the sewing is more fun...

So much for a quiet time away! Sounds like you got to do exactly what you had planned so well done.

No distractions and my friends brought me jasmine tea at regular intervals! :)

DS and I will leave early Saturday morning for a trip to FL to visit two DD and their families for a week. I probably won't do any sewing while gone, or get on the computer, either. One DD has tickets for "CATS" at the local theater for one night. Her husband is doing part of the music in the show, so that should be enjoyable. DS will play guitars with his DBIL and nephew; then hit the golf course with another nephew while DDs, DGD and I will visit and shop. There is a new Hobby Lobby in town, so I know where to go first. We will stop and visit my DSis, who is in a nursing home in MS on the way over. She broke her hip Easter Sunday and it is finally healing. She has no one to stay with her at home, so we don't know how long she will be in the nursing home. Coming back, we will stop over and visit the Habitat Village in Gulfport, MS; a neighborhood that was built for Katrina victims. A member of my high school graduating class(Laurel, MS, 1950) donated the equipment and another cleared the land, then helped with the first few homes. Unfortunately, he had to leave early to go into the hospital for heart surgery, but he has recovered and is doing well. As each house has been or is completed, the owners are/were given a gift certificate to Wal-Mart, courtesy of our class. We will also visit the home of my nephew that was burned and then destroyed by Katrina. Thanks to churches in New Jersey, North and South Carolina, the house has been rebuilt and furnished; they are supposed to move in this month. Will be back online by May 29th, "See you then." Emily
