Iron Costumer

As if the Cow wasn't odd enough...

Last weekend I had the opportunity to be part of a competition called Iron Costumer. For those of you familiar with Iron Chef, it's the same thing only with costumes. We get a "secret ingredient" and a limited time to make something.

Last time I did one of these things, the Secret Ingredient was AOL Cds and the secondary one was vinyl siding. I'm pretty sure I posted the reults of the "Bird-Butt" costume we produced.

Well, this time the secret was old VHS tapes with the secondary ingredient of some ugly bridesmaid's dresses found at the thrift store for $1.

Photos of my team's creation are here:

bridesmaid dress is the base, trimmed with videotape. The wig is made of more tape, toilet-tissue rolls, and wire. The corselette and bracers are made from the cardboard sleeved from the tapes. The wings are made of wire hangers wrapped in tape and festooned with trim and fabric found in the joint scrap heap. The necklace is more sleeve-cardboard trimmed with christmas garland and the broken bits of the tape cassettes. She is even wearing sandals constructed of tape cassettes, corrugated cardboard padding, and electrical tape. We produced all this in less than 2 hours.

No, but we were awarded "best use of the Secret Ingredient" - which for me was the whole point anyway!
