Kimono style pants

Hi All

A while ago I saw various posts regarding kimono style pants for ladies.

Does anyone know where one could obtain shareware patterns, if that is possible?? I am based in South Africa.

I am an occasional sewer and sometimes I find patterns so intricate, that I despair quite easily..

Thanx.

What *are* kimono-style pants? A google search turned up zilch.

Maybe she means the island wrap-around pants thread from earlier this summer?

Hmm, come to think of it, maybe she might also mean a hakama?

Hey, OP, come back and explain what you are talking about, and maybe you will get some ideas.

That's what I was thinking too. I know we talked about the hakama I made for my brother-in-law. There is a free pattern for those here:

On the left about 3/4 the way down, you will see a link to Hakama pattern.

However, I would not suggest this for a beginning sewer. It is a rather complicated garment to make the first time. I would not want to suggest it to someone who would get frustrated easily.

Thanks for the info guys. I did mean the island style pants that ties around your waist!

I will attempt to make them though. We are approaching summer here and I think it would be great to have a pair of those island style wrap around pants.

They should be easy enough to make up if you don't mind making a try or two. Otherwise I think they are a Birch Street CLothing pattern. Download the Martha's No-Side-Seam pants demo from Wild Ginger and copy that, then look at the pattern and see how much "wrap" to duplicate. And make sure to use a lightweight drapy fabric.
